2022 thor winegard antenna question

We have a 2022 thor class c with the winegard antenna installed on the roof. Cannot locate a switch / wall plate where I can switch to antenna or cable. I have read the winegard ower's manual but still am at a loss how the antenna works.

Thanks.

The winegard has to do with cell reception and not the tv/cable system. There should be a black or dark brown cover plate inside one of the cabinets that has a VERY small black/brown button that turns on/off the tv antenna or turns it off so you can watch cable stations. It usually has a cable connector with the button under it.

The POS Wingard non-directional, plastic, breaks once a year antennae installed on my Hurricane has the power button on a brown plate inside the overhead cabinet near the front door.

Winegard is a manufacturer of several different systems that could be on an RV. Historically, Winegard has made the TV antenna with amplifier. They now make at least 3 different models of RV TV antennas.

Recently, they have also delved into the WIFI amp and Cell Data categories with several devices in that area.

I am sure the OP is talking about his Winegard OTA TV antenna system.

Thanks.

It is usually located in a cabinet. Mine is on the side of one of the cabinets above the dinette in my Magniyude SV34.

Do you have the Winegard ConnecT 2.0 that is an HD antenna, WiFi Router and Cellular Hotspot?

Welcome! That little button turns on the antenna booster on mostRVs. It has to be OFF to use cable. It has to be ON to get the best over the air TV reception.

Which model is your coach? Chances are good that with that info someone here can tell you exactly which cabinet it's in.

Look VERY CLOSELY on the wall plate!! The tiny button on mine was hiding on the backside of the plate, hidden by the cable. I swore it didn't exist... but there it was!!

There might not be an On / Off Power Switch but it has to have the button / switch to change between the OTA Antenna Mode and the Cable Mode.

My guess is you have the Winegard Connect 2.0 on the roof because you have a 2022 model like ours. As the Judge says it is a combination Over the Air television antenna, Cellphone antenna that is a router and uses a SIM card, and a WiFi antenna to improve reception of nearby WiFi signals. Ours does not have a power switch and you must pull the fuse for the carbon monoxide detector to power it down.

If by power switch you are referring to the cable/OTA tv switch it should be located in an overhead cabinet near the roof location of the Winegard unit. It is usually a brown plate that resembles a duplex wall plate and has a green LED that illuminates when 12 VDC is being injected into the coax cable that travels to the OTA antenna. That 12 VDC powers an amplifier internal to the antenna if it is present. In the case of the Winegard Connect it does not provide the source of power for the WiFi range extender or the Cellphone router. That power is hardwired to the coach 12 VDC electrical system.

We do not use the WiFi range extender so I can't comment on that but we do use the Cellphone router/antenna and it works great. We have an AT&T Sim card installed and almost always have good internet for our computer and television (i.e. Netflix and Amazon Prime).

The internal over the air television antenna is poor at best and we replaced that function almost immediately after buying the coach with a King Jack antenna. We just removed the coax from the Winegard and used it for the King Jack.

Please mention the specific Thor model and model number and I might be able to tell you where to look.

You think they changed the 24F much between my 2020 and the 2022? Not likely.

Well I had an 18 24F and now a 22 24F.

Tons of changes actually. Most notably the engine. Tons of little things changed on top of that.

I'm aware of the engine change, but I'm curious what other interior changes were made. What changes did you like, and which ones not so much?

I like most of the changes.

The changes I have observed are:
7.3 engine
New steering wheel
TPMS sensors
Guage display and readout functions
Winegard Connect pre-installed
100 watt solar pre-installed
Central hdmi box so both TVs run off one DVD player or whatever you want. Meaning no need for 2 video things if you don't want them
The ride for whatever reason feels better and so does the steering. No white knuckle feeling at all
Deletion of outdoor water spigot, that pisses me off
Wider window over the kitchen sin
Lighter interior, painted cabinets
Kitchen sink has a 2 piece cover
Counter material is better
Under counter led strip
Stove and oven look nicer with lighted knobs and matching drawer underneath
Shower rod and curtain is now curved providing much more room in shower and easier to use, open and shut
Back of bathroom door now has hooks instead of the 3 horizontal rods
Bathroom counter has a little kickout thing to provide a little more top
I think the bathroom has a little more space as there is a kickout in the wall. Can't remember if the old one had that or not
Pre-installed sani flush black tank spray and backfill
USB plugs on wall behind driver
USB plugs and wireless charger on dinette
USB plugs in rear on nightstand by bed
Covers under dinette cushions no longer screwed in, providing more storage
Seat belts online dinette now on both sides of dinette instead of just on the rear side. Much nicer for kids especially in car seats
Lighted led under entry step

Aside from the Ford related updates (engine, instrumentation, TPMS... dash layout) that's not much different from our 2020... the last year of the V-10.

Ours was solar prepped - I installed 200 watts of panels.
No outside shower.
No under counter LED.
No wireless phone chargers.
We have the curved rubberized shower door/curtain... love it!

Other than those, everything else pretty much matches your list.

One interesting thing... with the water heater under the front dinette bench, and the city water plumbing under the rear... how did they put storage there? Unless Thor relocated those? I put hinges on ours for easy access, but not suitable for storage... Other than the big drawer in the front dinette bench.

Water heater is still in front side of dinette. I was just stating they don't screw the panels in anymore. Not a huge deal. But what is a huge deal for us is the seatbelts being on opposite sides of the dinette. It's so much better with the kids than being on the same side.

Tap shifter is amazing as well. Used every drive.

The engine is a huge improvement. Tons of torque and no more spinning at 4500+ rpm.

When they totaled my 2018 for a water leak I ran with the check straight to the dealer to pick up a new one. It helped they gave me $22k over what I paid for it and it was 3 years old at the time.
