Question Mattresses

Hi All, my husband and I are new to RVs and have recently purchased a Thor Delano with a fold up full mattress we are assuming we’ll need to replace with something better. (His back is not the best). Our friends told us we probably need a marine mattress since it folds?
It is a Delano 24RW 2022. Thanks for any insights.

Welcome to the Forum, and congratulations on your next great adventure!
Check with mattressinsider.com
They can build your a mattress with the fold anywhere you need it.
We opted for a simpler mattress cover, and it has worked fine for us.
(But no bad backs...)

Thank you so much!
My husband was thinking of just ordering a regular mattress but I don’t think that would work… with the fold.
We’re excited to give it a whirl with our dogs …slightly nervous, but up for the adventure.
Thanks Again!

We added a mattress topper to ours and it helped a lot. You might give that a try before having a custom mattress built. Below is a link to the one we are using.

I think you are right about it not working. You would need to buy a mattress then buy cut it then buy a cover then sew it. RV mattress are shorter than regular mattress so even if it was not a flod up it still would need cut to fit then resewed on the end

Get a mattress topper from https://sleepingorganic.com/. I have the same type bed. I bought pure latex topper cut it off with a knife and it’s sleeps better than my bed at home that has a $2500 mattress. My wife loves it

When researching toppers be careful what you get and check out. In simpler terms there is foam, gel foam, memory foam, cooling memory foam, hybrids with different layers, etc. GF had put a hybrid type with memory foam egg crate top layer in her 5th wheel in the bunk room that's reportedly pretty comfortable. She ordered it agin for the Omni but "they" changed the product and it's just 2 different layers of foam egg crate. HOT and not in a good way. After a few nights it went to the back of the garage at home.

We ordered a custom mattress from matressinsider. It had a lot of positive reviews. Haven’t received it yet. $750.

Even with a 3” topper both of us can barely walk after a few nights on the OE mattress. Reminds me of the mattress in my dorm room in college.

We also took the tv out of the bedroom as we don’t watch tv in bed. Installed a fan. Hope this new mattress works.

Our OE mattress with a topper is more comfortable than our sleep number bed at home!
