Mighty 5 - help

Beginning to plan July road trip from FL to mighty 5 and back. Traveling with two teens (13 & 16) & dog in a 30’ class C. No toad. Trying to decide where to stay once we hit Utah. Is it better to stay in parks or outside? Ruby’s vs north in Bryce for 2 nights.

Kids will tolerate some nature, but get bored easily. Ruby’s looks like fun but outside park. North doesn’t have electric will that be issue with dog in July?

Any guidance appreciated

Rubys is a nice campground and is right at the entrance. Imo no need for anything else.

I guess in all our travels we apparently missed "the mighty 5". What/where is "the mighty 5".

We did 3 of the 5 this year.

Zion - couldn’t get into the park so stayed at Zion Canyon RV park outside the park gate. You can walk or take a free shuttle to the park entrance. There is a free shuttle that runs from the park entrance to basically the end of the town of Springdale and back.

Bryce - Stayed at Ruby’s and took the shuttle into the park. Lots to do at and around Ruby’s within walking distance.

Capitol Reef - Did a drive thru to the end of the paved road in a 25’ class C. No issue. We stayed back at Thousand Lakes Campground - nice place.

We did Arches and Cayonlands in 2005 when we lived in CoSprings. Tent camped at the KOA in Moab and day tripped from there.

Here is our blog from this year’s trip including Zion, Bryce and CapReef to give you some ideas for stops along the way. Three months out and back from NC. Awesome trip.

Thank you! This is fantastic!

Thank you so much for sharing! It is a huge trip! I am up to 6500 miles and it all can get a bit overwhelming. I love your blog!

We stayed in Hurricane UT for Zion and Bryce. But we had a toad. The massive challenge is finding a spot in the park. The other with Zion is depending on your size going through Zion on you way to Bryce requires the park to block lanes for you to get though. I think there is a cost. We are going to Moab in June and staying at the KOA. You will be blow away with the views.
