Not my favorite place but it's unique and worth a look and a day trip.
It's also unique in that if they ever told the truth about it they'd have said it was almost 124°f (in the shade, multiply for in the sun) there this week and the water is usually cramp inducingly cold. The sun beats relentlessly and the cliffs release heat all night.
Your ac will never keep up with the heat if you're going in the next month or so.
I don't know where emerald cave is but I've been from the boulder dam bottom to Davis dam(and vice versa) quite a few times.

This is a November December January February trip and stay, not a summer trip for those uninitiated.

While I have never stayed there to camp, I have been there for business several times. Nice camp ground, marina with boat rentals, snack bar and store. The water maybe cold but it feels good when it is that hot. Not sure about a kayak A pontoon boat would be nicer. It can be very hot in the summer.
