2018 Four Winds Coleman Mach 3 Air conditioning troubleshooting

Hello, I own a 24 foot 2018 Thor Four Winds on a Mercedes platform. The air conditioner is a Coleman Mach 3 and when I use it it brings the temperature down by around 10 degrees Fahrenheit. I read that it should bring it down by around 20 degrees... Does anybody have experience with this model and could share what is the performance of the AC in there unit? If the air in the RV is 90F before turning the AC on, the air coming out of the AC vents is cool but the air in the RV those get lower than 80F. Any insight would be appreciated.

How are you measuring the temperature?

The ~18 - 20 degree delta is the difference between the warm air going into the A/C air return and the air exiting the A/C. You can't just go by the thermostat.

If you take a digital thermometer and place the probe at the air return inlet and measure it and then place the probe at the exit, the difference should be ~18 - 20 degrees.

That being said..... take a look at my last post in this thread as it may provide some pointers.

https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f4...t-28028-3.html

If the air inside starts at 90 degrees, it can take a long time to get it cool. It is best to start cooling in the morning before it gets hot. You need to have all your shades down and the A/C on plus look at all of my tips in the above post.

Also, the sensor for the thermostat temperature is mounted near the wall where it is typically the hottest. To get an accurate temperature reading take your digital thermometer and measure the temperature in the middle of the coach. As an example, my thermostat can say 80 degrees based on the sensor being near the wall where the sun is beating but using my digital thermometer in the middle of the coach the temp can read 72 degrees.

If you are using the shore power, it could be that you are not receiving adequate ampage from the power source. That is a common problem with the Colemans and may other units. If you have your issue while using generator power then the issue is with your AC unit.

How much amperage the A/C uses depends on the supplied voltage and the work the A/C is using. SP cannot "throttle" the amperage to the A/C. In fact, if SP voltage goes low the A/C will draw more amperage trying to do the same work.
