Looks like you will win the ESP lottery by having constant repairs for things that should have been done correctly at the factory but obviously weren't.

Thanks Chunker - Just happy the ESP is covering some costs as we get this thing dialed in. I know you were really, really unhappy with your XG32, we're still enjoying our Magnitude even with the few issues we've had.

Of course he does. Easy money in his pocket for covered repairs.

Also know that plans offered by dealers are HIGHLY negotiable. In my experience you should be able to get them down by 40-50%. Furthermore, they are easily canceled for refund. If you don’t mind the morality issue you sometimes can negotiate a lower price on the coach if you agree to the ESP. Then you can cancel it for a full refund.

If you feel you absolutely need an ESP DO NOT buy from the dealer at the time of purchase!!! Shop around & compare prices/coverages! I think you could easily find a better price with better coverage without the dealer getting a big 'ole chunk of your money.

Yep my experience was bad but I wonder if or when you will become disillusioned at the poor quality and failures. You have a 21 and apparently bought it used so I'm guessing you have had it less than 6 months. In that time you have had 2 significant high dollar failures and since I'm sure you have followed this forum you know the front cap failures judge, kwplot, and others have had, pierced propane lines, and innumerable other design and construction failures. Is there a dollar point when you will consider that your magnitude is going to eat your lunch? For me I looked at the crystal ball and what I foresaw wasn't pretty and my times too short to waste on problems that are inevitable. I do wish you well and hope these 2 major repairs are all you have and at the end you can say the ESP company won the lottery.

Not really a morality issue unless you promised to keep it full term. The dealer likely thinking you will have a significant malfunction and be scared to cancel the policy. People all the time will finance with a dealer that gets additional rebate off the selling price. Then pay it off quickly. Dealers of cars, boats and RV have all said to just make a few payments before paying off. With Ford there wasn't any minimum payment required or requested.

I hear you Chunker, some are happy with what they have and others are not. The Mag SV34 fit my budget for a diesel puller, I just didn't have an extra $50k to $100k to throw down for a Renegade or other International/Freightliner chassis (maybe when I retire). The coach you traded up to sure is sweet, it's just not in my budget. - Best -

We bought one because it was the first RV we have owned. So far after all 4 slide out motors have been replaced at 4 different times at no out of pocket cost. So far I have no regrets with buying one.

EDIT adding; almost forgot, don't forget the "free stays" at some time share RV resorts.
Yes, buyer beware . General RV soaked us $9800 for a Cornerstone ext warranty on a 2021 Palazzo 34.7 . Cornerstone approved a double (2) slideout repair , but have refused extra 2 hours labor to finish the reinstall and now General requires me the owner to cover the $700 difference. General stated 2 additional hours were needed because they ran into trouble removing factory installed hardware that failed. Cornerstone like automotive shop has book values for R&R labor hours. NICE

I paid 2800 for 7 year warranty, saved me easily 10 grand in repairs!
And I have no deductible!

Not a nightmare until you are stranded somewhere with slides stuck open. We spent 2 days in a Walmart parking lot. After I called Thor and told them I had already put Slide Module in override, was told to call mobile tech. Could find zero mobile techs in Grand Junction Co. I figured out how to retract these junk mechanisms on my own by fabricating a “puller” and have since used twice again. I carry spare motors, cables etc. Oh by the way, mine is a 2021 Palazzo.

Sounds like your problem isn’t with the ext warranty but rather with the incompetence of the service department that can’t repair something in the time allotted by the warranty they sell.

$8700? My dealer's was $10,000. What a deal. NOT. Total ripoff, and don't expect them to honor it-you'll get the ultimate run-around. That was for a Class B van w/o slides. Even with slides I wouldn't do it. That's an admission that their assemblies are sub-par... you have 2 yrs to fix the stupid mistakes, so better make sure.

My dealer said my repairs wouldn't be as good. Right he was- they'd be better! My wife almost fell out of her chair.

I did this once with a Ford Ranger and holy crap did I ever get fooled.
This is how dealers make any money off the sale.

Not "just NO", but....

Most definitely. Instead of $150 deductible, shipping costs and don’t forget $&&@&& shop supplies, another 2 hours of labor. Shop supplies is a good one to soak customer on! They also charged an hour labor just to diagnose the problem! If I had a do-over, would’ve looked to pre-owned from private owner.

I paid $2800 for my Cornerstone extended warranty. First hiccup was the generator and it ended up being the carburetor and sure as sh$t both the Cummins and extended warranty didn't cover i. Cummins doesn't consider it a major component (I'd say $1200 is pretty major) so I'd say that so far I'm not a fan.

Just say NO to ESPs (Extended Service Plans AKA Extended Warranty Plans).

Take any money you would have used to buy that ESP and put it in an investment account. Pull from it when you think you have a covered repair. At the end of the covered term you will be way ahead.
Excellent advice! $8700, is grand larceny!
