No heat from Dash

We have a "new to us" Thor Montecito with a ISC360 Cummins. We have heat coming from the front dash controls, but it's not very hot. The engine temp gauge seems low.

The engine was turned off before I took this picture. The needle is normally where the arrow is pointing. I think the needle should be ½ way between the Hot and Cold indicators. Is this right? If so, do I have an engine thermostat that is stuck open? Could my radiator cap be weak (not sure what the pressure should be on this engine). Any other ideas why my temp gauge is showing low. It never gets above the arrow.

TIA

Use a infrared temp gun and shoot one of the heater hoses when it’s fully warmed up, normal operating temp is 180 and the cap should be a 12-15 lb and autozone should be able to test those for you.
Just remember whoever opens up the cooling system they have to be bled of air or it will damage the egr cooler

Hello and sorry for your troubles. I did not see the year motor home or the mileage? My first assumption would be that the thermostat is stuck or you could possibly be low on coolant. Good luck and let us know what you find out

1st thing to check is to make sure your hot water valves are turned on at the motor. I lay down under the motor and can turn them on or off real easy.

There should be a 12v valve that controls the coolant flow to the exchanger.

Position is determined by the temperature control valve.

They do fail and could be stuck
