Roof Vent Leak

2019 Thor ACE 30.2

I have finally conclusively determined the source of my water leak! After watching rain come in along the television wire for two years, and multiple layers of sealant on the TV antenna, I finally covered the nearby 360 siphon vent and it solved the leak. A little “duh” moment for me, but in my defense, the TV antenna had a visible split from the roof and this vent does not. I suspect the rain is running down the inside of the vent and finding it’s way out. I’ve since built a better rain cover.

QUESTION: What is this front vent for? The waste holding tanks are in the rear and there is another vent there. This has cabinets under it, a sofa under them, the external TV, and battery/propane tank compartments.

Here’s what the leak fix looks like if anyone was curious. The rain will now drip off the edge of the black lid rather than running down one of the legs and into the vent.

That's a 360 siphon vent, normally for black or grey tanks. There is one vent for the grey tank and a separate vent for the black tank. Whichever one the back vent is for, this is for the other one.

If both your tanks are in the rear I don't understand why this vent is located where it is. Vent pipes normally run down interior walls but I don't see any near this opening. Pretty good mystery if you ask me.

After looking at your rear vent, it appears to be for the black tank so this has to be for the grey tank, but how it gets down to the tank is still a mystery.

Where did you get the black covers?

Interesting pipe routing if that goes to the gray tank...

Just a warning about the lid - it likely won't last more than a year or two. It's very unlikely that plastic is UV stabilized.

Let ME be the one to open the proverbial can of worms...

IF, by attaching the lid/cover, are you now changing the static design of the 360 vent?

Static design? Fumes come up - they dissipate.

Dynamic design? Wind blows causing a low pressure area in the vicinity of the vent openings - fumes are drawn out: Possibly changed - no worse than an OEM vent:
