When I had to maintain batteries in the RV, I'used a mirror and flashlight and a battery filler bulb. Not fun, but not necessarily messy.

I check mine when it seems to not hold power as long or about once a year. NAPA Autozone pepboys O'Reilly Amazon they all have batter water fillers these fillers will automatically stop filling when the water is at correct level. I pull the batterys out of the cabinet fill them and reinstall takes me about 30 minutes to complete process.

EZBatteryCheck

I replaced my coach battery caps with the EZ Battery Check caps. They have a float that raises and lowers an indicator that is easily visible. It also has a fill port to hook up tubing to add the distilled water without removing the cap. Less than $20 for a pack of six.

Check: EZ Battery Check

I put a bright flashlight on the back side of each battery. You can see the water line. If it’s low, I fill with a bulb filler or turkey baster. It’s a hassle getting to the caps, but short of rerouting cables there’s not much I can do. My experience is that they need topped off once a year or so.
