Sewer hose “situation”
I’ve never seen this issue discussed and I’m a bit embarrassed to do so myself....my arthritic old hands don’t grip like they used to and on our last few trips I’ve had a very difficult time getting my sewer hose fittings apart. Is there a brand of hose or some sort of quick connect device or a lever/tool that will help? I’ve considered a permanently mounted macerator system but it seems expensive and needlessly complex. Thanks.

My macerator was 79 bucks on amazon, went right onto the bayonet hose connection you now have. I wired in a switch and use a 3/4" garden hose.
There's little expense and it's so nice.
A 12v power reel is available in the $300 range if you don't want to deal with coiling the hose yourself.
A self retracting garden hose in the link below. 92 bucks. I bought it for the macerator but might not use it because as with most of my mods, one thing leads to another... And I now have another black hose solutuon

We're not young anymore.
Luxury comes in odd places, like a damnable sewer hose.
Buy the luxury you worked a lifetime toward.
$179 bucks for macerator and reel.

YEA! $25 and NO MODS to make it work and no little hose to always cause problems with trying to clean your tanks.

A little white lithium grease is a big help with my hoses.

I tried spraying them with silicone spray one time and it helped but also made ‘em slippery. Grease would be a more precise application and I’ll give it a try as well. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. I also replaced my sewer connection cap with an end cap that has a built in handle that is easy to twist on and off when I connect my hose. Bought it on Amazon for less than $15.00.

I use an oil filter wrench. Seems more substantial than the plastic ones

PS the reviews on the orange Camco wrench mention not fitting Valterra caps which I have. That led me to the filter wrench.

Nice catch!
I wonder why they don't fit?
Are the outside lugs shaped differently?

Probably this one. Also has a fitting for garden hose.

I have same paw problem, I switched to TITAN hose kit . The fitting is much longer and much easier to grab and twist .

After spending the last seven Months on crutches (and no end in sight... ): my carpal tunnel syndrome has gotten exponentially worse.
I'm only hoping that I can get things repaired before next Season...

these fit rino hose. Rino is at Walmart and is the best hose to use. I have your same problem.

OP here. Thanks for some great responses. I’m going to try the Camco wrenches, if those don’t work well for me I’ll give the oil filter wrenches a try. Still not quite convinced on the macerator. I knew this crowd would be able to help - though I’m saddened to know how common the issue is!
