Vegas windshield wiper

When I pulled the wiper arm away from the windshield to clean the windshield, the arm would not retract back to the windshield.

Anybody have an idea what may be wrong and how to remove arm?

I'm not sure I understand what happened? Is the wiper standing straight up 90 degrees from the windshield or is it just that the wiper is not laying flat against the windshield? What year Vegas do you have? They changed the wipers in the 2016's. Can you post a picture?

2014, it will not lay flat on windshield, it stays about 4 or 5 inches above windshield, on other wiper, when you pull the arm off the glass there is a click, and another click when you push it back down. When I try to push bad arm down it just springs back.

Is the base of the broken wiper (where it pivots) higher than the unbroken one? In other words is your problem at the pivot point or where the wiper blade is attached to the arm? It sounds like it is at the pivot point.

No,they look identical, there must be a problem with the mechanism that locks in place, probably have to remove arm

There must be a set screw that allows arm to be removed from motor shaft

You might look at the wiper springs under the arm and see if one came lose or if there is a lock at the base of the wiper arm that is not locking. The spring should keep the wiper arm against the window.

Simpler than I thought, the plastic cover covering the motor shaft flips open, there is a nut holding the wiper arm to the motor shaft. Took the arm off and was able to reset the arm, bolted it back on, now is fine. Took about 5 minutes. Now on to removing center console to fix the 12V outlets.
