Entry door shock and threshold plate

Hello,

I need to replace the Ball stud for the gas shock on the entry door. My wife fell through the door and broke both the ball in the door and on the threshold of the door frame (yes she is ok now). I was able to pull the bottom of the door off and reinforce where the stud attached by riveting another piece of metal on the inside of the bottom of the door.

On the threshold however I cannot figure out how to get the bottom piece off to replace the stud. I did put a new stud on the door and I have a new gas shock however I cannot remove the stud nor the threshold plate.

My question is, is the thresh hold plate part of the entire door frame or is there a way to get it off? I do not see anything attaching it or how it fastens in there.

Any recommendations on removing the stud without removing the threshold plate. It is pretty close quarters to try and use a saw to remove it, I'm afraid of doing more damage than good.

Any ideas are welcome thank you in advance.

I opened the door during extreme wind and the wind blew it back 180 degrees and it ripped the door shock off the door (not the threshold) and it must have broken the stud in the underside of the door because there is nothing there other than a circular hole.

Where did you get a replacement stud and how did you get it to stay in place?

Thanks, Bob

Glad Missus is okay.

Glad YOU are okay after going public with "the wife did it"...

Doubtful I can help - but others might be able to assist more with pics of the problem at hand.

Is there a picture available? I am having a difficult time picturing your problem as all I know is the threshold of a doorway is the 'sill' at the bottom.
