Winter Fresh Water Use

Our Thor Gemini 23TW we are picking up soon is equipped with heating pads on the waste tanks. We are travelling through the Canadian Rockies for a few days, so will likely encounter freezing temperatures.

I'm aware the fresh water system is not heated. Is it best not to use this at all and just use bottled water for toilet flushing, wash-up, etc?

I have read the other posts on heated tanks, but any additional tips or thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks all!

My opinion, if your fresh water freezes, you are frozen too. Keeping RV heated for your comfort should prevent fresh water from freezing inside. You can also open cabinet doors to improve this even more.

An outside shower is a whole other story. Some used pocket heaters for that small outside area.

Where are you staying for the few days in the Rockies, presumably at FHU campgrounds. Don't dewinterize the fresh water system. Flush the toilet with a jug of water and unlike most normal recommendations, let the black water flush down the dump hose each time. Make sure that the dump hose always drains with no low point dips. That way there is nothing to freeze up at the dump valve.

When you leave each morning, dump a quart of so of antifreeze down the toilet to make sure nothing is left to freeze when you get underway.
