So I’m going to be doing much the same thing you did. I’ve got to add a 2x2 to the face of the slide, which will then get faced with a hardwood strip. The notch will get hardwood too. Then I can bolt down the sections.

Just a suggestion. I see in your pic the front rubber molding is still in place. Are you going to remove it???.
If you do the hardwood will line up nice
