Well, Edge by default manages passwords and form entries, and tracks where you have been and uses that data to "speed up" your next attempt to return. Of course, many of these are NOT considered to be "safe" computing/browsing practices but Microsoft is Microsoft and they want to collect as much data as possible to make their own search engine (Bing) work more efficiently to compete with Google, etc. Although much "lighter" than Internet Explorer, Edge still eats a lot of RAM and once you get more than a few websites loaded in tabs, things start to slow down considerably (especially if the sites automagically reload themselves over and over.) Edge is basically Microsoft's answer to Chrome and uses the HTML5 protocol as its base. There aren't a lot of plugins for Edge as a result but the web code for a lot of the modern sites can be challenging in that they use far more code to create a layout then previous versions. Under the three dot (…) menu in the upper right of the address bar, check for any Extensions that may have been installed... they eat a lot of RAM and are generally not needed.

And the interweb is a heartless place... many requests go straight into the bit bucket never to be responded to. Through no fault of yours.

Anyway, that is probably too much and at too high a level. I would go back and set the defaults back (if you have changed anything - it tends to prompt you from time to time as it tracks your use) and be careful with the Advanced Settings.
