I still would check the bushings Dan. Just craw underneath and look at the back side of the caliper. You do not need to take anything apart to see them. When I did brake inspections, you pretty much just look at the linings unless the customer had a complaint. If they needed brakes then you would measure rotors and drums and do a deeper inspection. This is NOT a common issue at all on the automotive side. At least I have never seen it in doing thousands of brake jobs.
