I'm sorry, but this statement is partially incorrect. You do not have to change out the alternator. You do have to change out the BIM.
While changing out the converter is 'not' required, I highly recommend it. The below reference mentions the factory CC will only charge lithium to 85-90%. I would not recommend putting heavy draws on batteries that are only 85-90% of capacity, regardless.
