I have never had to prime and only time I even notice the genny was before we bought the AGM batteries. The AGS use to start every morning at 7:00 AM and we could feel the vibration (no noise) while in bed. Now the genny is mainly used as we need something through out the day.
But if OP likes the 29M or similar model, I wouldn't hesitate to buy because there may be no other options
