Bed needs to be up for traveling... On my Hurricane I wouldn't be able to sit in the drivers seat or see past the cabinets that lower with the bunk...
(Also need to recline the drivers/passengers seat to fully lower the bunk - and that would prevent the slide from coming in...)

Should never be driven without the safety pins in place. There is another thread where some have drilled another location for the safety pins partially down.. This does at least address the bed 'falling' safety issue - but you may find 'timing issues' with the motors... Schwintek (manufacturer of the slide mechanisms used in Thor bunks and slides) recommends full movement every time - not stopping part way. There are videos on Schwintek site and links from here that show how to reset the timing when needed.
