When we purchased our previous rig ( Rockwood fifth wheel ) we were told to always open a window or the door when extending and retracting a slide. When extending they act like a plunger and when retracting they act like a pressure pump. I asked the Thor dealer about it and they just stood there looking confused. I will continue opening the door and allow the air to displace naturally.

I never thought about that. Haven’t noticed any issues though probably more often than not there is a window open. But it makes sense especially with my current full wall slide so I’m going to be more intentional about it. Thanks for the new knowledge!

Get the "myLCI" app and see the vide section for slide, steps, and levelers maintenance and repairs. Will show you how, what, and when. You can even shop parts on the site. It's a goldmine for info.

I spray the tracks and support rollers under the full wall slide with silicone spray every few months. Old school I guess, but never heard of a part wearing out due to proper lubrication.
"Maintenance free" is like " fool proof" , especially on an RV...[emoji16]

The trouble with making something fool proof is underestimating the fool.

On our former 41 foot DP the slides were enormous and the amount of air they moved going out or in was substantial and noticeable. The two little tiny slides on our Gemini, and I would guess yours too, are so small they really do not move that much air. Its not really something I even think about on this coach, but sure did on the DP.

A while back I had a travel trailer that actually had a warning sticker near the slide button saying that the door or window MUST be opened prior to operating the slide.

Your tracks are under your slide, that means you have an entirely different system than the in wall slides being talked about here.

I think he means the flat sheets under the slide and the roller wheels that run on them to support the weight of the slide whilst it’s moving.
