How can I install a GPS locator in my rig?
I would like to put a GPS locator in my Challenger, so I can always see in real time where it is. Call it peace of mind. We store it, as we can’t park it at home due to HOA rules.
I know such tech exists, as my F-150 came pre-equipped with one, but I didn’t like that company’s product or service.
Has anyone done this? Looking for suggestions, came up empty in searches.
Thank you, Mike

Please disregard. Of course, 10 minutes after posting this, I found what I was looking for. Helps when you use the correct search terms. Sorry!

Google GPS locator for RV, and a lot of options come up. I have not picked one yet.

We have HUM from Verizon in our RV. The unit plugs into the OBD port under the dash. It not only shows where our rig is located, it also detects problems like low battery, coolant problems, alternator, etc. Additionally, it provides a driving history, fuel level, average MPG ( which causes me to shudder when I see it ). We got the HUM free when we bought our last phones, and the service only costs $10/month. One caveat - it only works with gasoline engines, not diesels.

Plus, you go on a huge radar. Not trying to be negative here but that's a huge marketing tool for them. They share your location, etc. with vendors as you travel along for a fee...including insurance companies...drive the speed limit. Those businesses know you're near them and can offer services, discounts, etc. A private GPS locator system is a closed loop system whereby only you get the data.

I'm glad that you found what you were looking for.
And here I was: hoping that you didn't need this device to help you find where you last parked it!
Now: where did I leave the damn car????

Thank you. My Challenger is gas, so that's not an issue. I have Verizon for my phone, so I will check into this option.

Gritz, thanks for pointing that out, it's good to know (r.e. the tracking bit).
Bob - LOL! Yeah, I know where I parked it, I just want to know it's still there whenever the thought strikes me. We can't park it here because our 1 1/4 acre and 14' RV fence aren't good enough for the HOA. I would need to build a $60K RV garage to make them happy (despite what the home builder's agent told us when we bought here 10 years ago). **sigh** So we store it at another location.
