2016 (or earlier) Thor ACE owners - what have you done?
2016 (and presumably earlier) Thor ACE owners - what have you done about lack of lights in the cab area and step area? I know what Thor has done as of 2017 - put lights there. But we bought a new 2016 30.1 recently - just couldn't see spending $20,000 more for a few lights.
For cab area, I'm talking both about map lights and about area lighting, like when it's night and you're going to drive and you want to be able to see your way into the cab.
For step area, yes, we could turn on the six overhead lights in the living area from the door, but we'd rather not. We've grown accustomed to being able to turn on a single light over the steps.
For that matter, home about light for the overcab bed?

Lights
We have a 2015 30.2, and understand where you are coming from.
Foe the cab area we purchased two LEd strip lights (12-15 inches) came as a two pack at one of the big box stores. They can be used as photo cells with auto on off, or as on/off lighted that are dimmable. Battery operated, but shoud last a long time. Mounted above the armrest they work well when traveling at night or as lighting in that area when bed is down.
Our moveable bed has an LED light opposite the slide end, so that was not an issue for us.
In the stairwell we had an LED light mounted using velcro, but the easier option was to keep the LED light in the shoe bin on all the time and the bin door open---nightlight and stair light.
In our RV not all the lights were LED's--the basement bulbs were not, we had to convert them, same for above the stove . I can't remember about the shoe bin, but I think by 2016 all the bulbs were LED?

On my 2014 ACE 27.1 I ran a 110 volt wire to the right side of the camper into the small cabinet behind the passenger seat. I installed the 110 outlet and then put a night light in. I also installed a pair of map lights that I installed in the upholstery panel above the side windows. as soon as I can figure out how to add a photo or 2 I will post them as well

Hi All,
Not got around to the map reading lights yet but I did add LED strips the entry well. Picked up a couple of amber color strips from Autozone, ran the wires into the shoe cupboard (one wire runs under the kick plate) then outside. Spliced the wires into the step light circuit, the LED's come on as you open the screen door. They also go auto off after a predetermined time if the screen door is left open....

Tex,
Great idea. Question - How did you attach the lights to the outside of the rig?

Morning,
If you mean how did I connect the wires, I simply used quick splice connectors into the 2 step lamp wires.
The strip LED's have a self adhesive backing.
Tex.

We purchased our 27.1 last September since then we incorporated the following mods.
Table leg floor mounts replaced with flush mounts (no more stubbed toes)
Awing LED lights
Front cab area 2 speakers installed
Front cab side map lights
Replacing JRV212T media player with JRV9000 plus adding a small amp to drive additional front speakers

Where did you purchase the timer for your LED lights and do you have a part number

Sorry for the confusion, the timer (auto off) is part of the original step mechanism... well at least on mine. The light under the step will go off after a delay if the screen door is left open.

stairwell light
I have a Windsport 27K which is similar I used a license plate light installed it on the front side wall and hooked it up to the switch for the outside light so both come on, also works for a good night light and keeps stairwell lit during the night so you don't accidentally fall in the hole wondering around LOL
