Many of the macerator's discharge into a gray/black tank with a 1.5"-inch dump line

Why, well maybe Beau knows, I sure don't

Mine is mounted where 1/2 bath and kitchen sink run through it into a standard size sewer pipe

Are you saying the 1/2 bath is the macerator? I am used to seeing the full being the Macerator and the 1/2 bath standard toilet typically going to the black tank.

Designs vary across the builds, and I am used to the larger Class A coaches

If gravity is available to move liquids, the manufacturers use it. If the fluids must go uphill to the tanks, a macerator is used.

In my coach, only the inside kitchen sink and the outside kitchen sink are not directly above the tanks. Since the inside kitchen sink is 3.5 feet above the gray water tank which is 7 feet away, gravity works well. The outside kitchen sink is about 6 inches above and 4 feet away from the gray tank. Add a P trap and the pipe would be up hill to the top of the tank. Plant 750 engineers used a macerator and duck bill to pump the water up into the tank.

In your case, I suspect the rear bath toilet needs a macerator to pump the waste to the tank; whereas, the mid bath is over the tanks.

Like stated before. Toilets will use gravity for directly over the black tank. Macerator pumps for moving stuff though longer piping.

Question Stumper

That's close, mine pushes about 8-10 feet of hose to tank.

I have a 2018 35M and no macerator attached. I'm curious, what turns on the maceration? Normally they are manually controlled and get damaged if they run dry.
I will say this, on my 1/2 bath, the toilet does clog occasionally if a wade of paper builds up. I wonder if Thor was trying to fix an older issue like that.
