Conversely:
  • You get both a dinette and a couch
  • With the bed out its no different from a 24.1 with the bed in the couch out (at least with respect to getting into the front bunk)
  • Pantry and closet look larger than 24.1
  • Stove really isn't that much closer to the toilet than it is in a 24.1
  • Of course larger shower (and bathroom overall than 24.1)

My big negative: is that you have to put the bed away daily to use the couch but it would be like that with any murphy bed coach.

I do like the fact that Thor still thinks the Axis/Vegas line is important enough to experiment with floorplans (instead of the long rumor that Axis/Vegas was going away). I would hope that they realize that they are the only one's in the US with a "Class A" of this size..

Actually, one of the exciting selling points of the 24.1 was the ability of the bathroom doors to make a large bathroom.

Outside storage may be less than on 24.1, but is significantly greater than on 25.6 or 27.7 motorhomes which are larger overall.

I agree with most of your assessment, and will add that having both the kitchen and dinette on camp-side is a big plus as far as I’m concerned. I also like that as many as six can sit and eat if three tables are used. That would come in handy while tailgating if brought inside in bad weather.

I also agree that making the bed every night is a big negative, but as you say that also applies to other compact Murphy floor plans. However, as DF stated, there’s not much privacy if traveling with others. Not even a curtain around bed area. If wife gets up early and makes coffee, it’ll wake me for sure.

What I don’t like at all for a small coach that will probably be used mostly by a couple is that the slide is significantly deeper than on 24.1, so while traveling the aisle will be much narrower. Slides are a deal breaker for us, but this one in the close position is probably a double deal breaker.

Other than the deeper slide at front, I like it better than the Delano 24FB we expected the floor plan to duplicate.

Indeed, that is one of the reasons we got our 24.1.

The small 24.1 shower has been mentioned.
I have a cure.
You mount the sink cabinet on the rear door.
The door swings open taking the pedastal with it, making that wonderful big bathroom and it uses a flexible drain hose and faucet connector.
New Shower pan now extends to under that floating pedastal all the way to the door hinge.
This makes one of the biggest showers available this side of a pusher.

It's really pretty easy. $40 in sink stuff, a shower pan and a bigger shower curtain.

I think it's a three day job.
But
At 6'4" and 220lbs, I haven't found the original shower to bother me at all.

But
It really is an easy fix.
If a sink can be on a slide a sink can be on a door.
I was very excited to have figured it out, but I adapt too easily so it isn't needed by us.

Yeah, but it blocks access to fridge by someone cooking. Granted, owner could schedule around this, but it’s less than desirable. I remember someone saying it was nice to be able to reach for a beer while on toilet.

It doesn't require opening those doors, it's just handy to double the size of the bathroom if you want to.
They're only double opened for us when one of us is putting on makeup and playing with our hair.
Or
You open only the rear door and it acts as a solid bedroom door and/or allows you to lift an extended counter on the door side of the sink which when added to the one on the shower side of the sink is 44inches or so of counter space.
And
You can still operate the fridge with just the rear door open on the bathroom.
And

I'm sure the extra wide folks really like having the choice of a dressing room the size that bathroom becomes.

It's versatile, not mandatory.

I won't say the bathroom is why we bought a 24.1
I will say the entire floor plan kept me from custom building a super c on a 4wd autocar frame.
And
I'm ssssoooo glad we don't have to use a damn slider unless WE want to, not some silly builder FORCING us to use it.

I really liked the 24.1 and tried to custom order one numerous times without the slide but couldn’t.

Looking at the new 24.3’s narrow dinette for two adults confirms for me that a 24.1 without slide and narrow dinette would be plenty roomy to move around. And it would still sit and sleep 4.

I know you're probably the person here most familiar with a 24.1
Mine was written for someone who hadn't actually pondered the bathroom and might be mislead/misunderstanding the double door use.
And
It sleeps 8 if you can convince grandkids how the rear cross chassis bin is a secret lair even batman doesn't know about.

Yes it does if you open it/them all the way up. At least the newer models don't completely block the fridge with the double doors.

Our model has the original door with the piano hinge in the middle vs the two individual doors.

It really hasn't been an issue for us for 6 seasons now.

The double doors don’t block the fridge, but leaves it inside bathroom. Like you say, it shouldn’t be an issue anyway. The bathroom is plenty large with doors closed for privacy. I’m used to camping in vans so not setting bar very high.

As we’ve discussed in other threads, another design option would be a split bath, similar to the Tiffin Wayfarer of similar size to 24.1. That has disadvantages also, but gets fridge away from being across bathroom. I didn’t care for split baths initially, but after using them a few times they grew on me.

Thor posted a quick walkthrough on Tiktok.

From that walkthrough it looks like there is a lot of inside storage.

I do like all the windows along the kitchen counter.

So it's a simple and cost effective transition.

But your are spot-on regarding the wheelbase. 188" Axis/Vegas is too long.
Delano is on a 170" Mercedes wheelbase.
Four Winds/Chateau has E350/450 chassis in 168" and 176" wheel base
We have the 25.2 VEGAS and it is sitting on a 194" wheelbase on the E450 chassis...

Yes
That’s the beauty of Vegas/Axis Chassis
188” or longer wheel base makes for a much smoother ride

All I was saying above is that they could have “thinked” outside-the-box and built a 22-24’ Vegas/Axis on a shorter wheelbase.
The Ford E350 stripped chassis stock wheelbase is 158”

In the 1970’s most Class A RVs were on a short wheelbase Dodge 318 class C type chassis
So it’s not unusual to have a 22” Class A

That is a very spacious bathroom with lots of storage. I don’t recall one that spacious in a compact Class A since the old Trek.

The large windows under awning (to block sun when needed) should make driving easier, and improves view of campsite.

The center aisle looks very wide and open in large part due to narrow dinette and kitchen counter all along passenger side that are below shoulder level. Screen shots below.

The issue of sleeping while boondocking without opening slide, if only once in a while, could be handled by a couple by sleeping on dinette and over-cab bed. I wouldn’t want to do that often though. This MH is not for us, but not a bad job by Thor.

Wow

Some functional aspects of the design border on insanity to me. I like the smaller size getting back to the original Axis/Vegas, and would like it even more if made smaller since it has way more storage than we’d ever use, but I hope buyers think the purchase through in detail.

All that storage and sitting positions come with a proportionally low Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity, which means 4 or 5 people plus cargo plus tongue weight of a trailer will likely overload chassis rating.

The main deal breaker for me is lack of any windows on driver’s side while traveling, so if touring with more than two people, visibility is too limited. I can’t imagine 2 or 3 passengers driving through Yellowstone and not being able to see out the left side of motorhome.

Much less important, generator just off main bed and slide, and close to other beds doesn’t help either.
