Edge neither. You may have a poorly implemented web tracker that intercepts your web calls before redirecting you to your original destination. Sometimes called spyware or adware. They look at where you go and what you do and serve up ads in that venue. Their logs contain detailed traces of your IP address and the IP address of your destinations. It collects cookies about your activity and tries to interpret them.
That feeds an AI algorithm that attempts to see if the algorithm is accurate. Most every proper calculation about the move you make is compared to one that's unexpected. Properly coded and maintained, the machine captures data and attempts to learn from it. It records, and attempts to interpret, positive and negative experiences. A simple bit implementation of true/false. It consumes far less storage and computer registers are extremely efficient in comparing yes to no.
