Blue or White LEDs under the awning

HI All,

I am in the process of replacing the LED light strip under the awning. Any thoughts on the benefits of using blue over white? I saw some people saying the blue attracts less bugs, but wanted to see what the group thought and any other practical advice.

Thanks, John

I did blue to 'soften' the light pollution outside the RV when we have it on at night. I've been to too many campgrounds where people leave their white LEDs on all night and it just drives me insane.

I have blue for the same reason. Blue tends to not seem as bright as white. They may be the same but for me blue is better.

Before the days of night vision googles the Army has us use red then then later blue to aid in night vision. It does not take as long to recover one's night vision after exposure to blue or red light as it does to white light.

With blue light you are better able to see anything that may be approaching the campsite that you would using white light.

Why not get one of them there new fangled LED strips with a remote so you can change the color when the wind changes direction?

We have colorable dimming led at my shop exterior.
It allows me to go dim red for night vision and bright white when wanted.

If blue means less bugs, I'm not sure why buglights have been yellow for over a century....

On an RV colorable lights will let a visitor find your rv easier.
'We decided to stay at Disney resort with 750 other people. Turn your first right, look for the bright green light strip.'
