Gas Stop Install/use

Has anyone installed one of these on the Class A or C?
Was thinking about it as an added LP safety item.
3.7 inches log, so it should fit on my LP tank

I don't want to discourage you; but how often do we hear of leaking gas from propane tanks exploding?
It's probably just me; but there are a lot of folks out there who are willing to sell you anything they can... regardless of need!

I am on my 2nd motor home and prior to that I had a pop up tent trailer and never had a device like that on it. I never had a propane issue. Regular maintenance and inspections should remove that concern.

3 motorhomes in the last 15 years and I have never needed, nor wanted, some contraption like that.

If I felt that unsafe about LP, I'd buy an all electric coach without an LP tank.

As a note, I have a 500 gallon tank at the house that doesn't have anything like that installed.

I think y'all not understanding the use of this device. It does not detect leaking from the tank itself but the lines, and appliances. If it senses a high flow of propane it shuts the tank off. It can also be used to check for minor leaks in your lines or appliances.

No,,, I actually read through the info on the link that you provided.
I used the term "tanks"; because the fires will back-track along the lines...

A 'high' flow of propane? That would indicate that the leak is before the regulator (e.g. on the tank).

There already is a sniffer in the coach to detect the small leaks which I would expect to be more prevalent than a "blowout" that would trip this guy.

Just my $0.02.

OK, lets try again.
The "Gas Stop" attaches just after the tank valve. If you have a leak, say a punctured or broken line under or through out the RV it will detect the (HIGH) flow and shut off the LP tank. Yes there is the detector (INSIDE) of the RV but lets say your driving and hit something and it punctures your line, it will shut the tank off before you explode. I don't think the inside detector will smell anything.

The other reason is (as in the UK video) is you can shut off the tank and the guage will wither stay the same or if it starts to drop you can tell if you have a small (minor) leak somewhere in the RV. Inside detectors probably not detect a (minor) outside leak.

If you want to try it:
I hope that you never have to find out how effective it is...
(Meaning that you have no troubles...)

3 motorhomes over 15 years and never had a problem. IMHO it’s another unnecessary snake oil product.

If your LP lines are in danger of rupture from road debris you need to do some common sense maintenance and secure the lines.

We were asked our thoughts, which were provided.

I just installed them. Thought I would test by creating a leak. They work. Cheap insurance

:creating a leak"???
I hope that you remembered to un-create it...

Seriously: glad it worked as planned.

We often answer questions like " my propane tank is full but the furnace will not light or the stove has no gas". The problem is usually the propane flow limiter valve in the pressure regulator is closed. Integral to the regulator is a flow limiter that will close when there is no gas in the lines and the valve is opened all the way suddenly. To reset the valve, close the valve completely and wait about 10 minutes and the valve will automatically reset. Next, open the propane valve SLOWLY to fill the lines and use propane as required. The flow limiter is required on all ASME tanks installed in vehicles. Now, if you are using a DOT bottle and do not have a regulator with a flow limiter, this could be great accessory.

As Jim states there is or should be a rapid release shut off already built into the system, but if a secondary gives you piece of mind spend the $80.
I'll say this, I've tried the so called gauges that thread onto the portable bottles and would suggest save your money. They have red/yellow/green areas as the one shown here in but in reality it has 2 readings, full & empty.

On this type it'll point at 2-3 o'clock when full, the needle will barely move til suddenly it shows empty.

As Beau pointed out, you already have an integral "Gas Stop", why do you need another that can cause other problems? Read the reviews:

Rapid release ONLY partially shuts the gas off.
This will completely shut it off.

If you have a bad leak it shuts off your gas. The regulator ONLY partially shuts it off. NOT a snake oil product. IT WORKS AS ADVERTISED.

I never had a house fire in 40 years, so I guess I should cancel my homeowners insurance.
