It was 50 years ago this May that I bought my first RV. It was a 17 foot Dutchcraft Travel Trailer. It was much simpler than todays rigs. I stayed in RVing except for a few years along the way interrupted by Cruising Sailboats, General Aviation, and Trawlers. I always came back to RV's getting newer and larger Travel Trailers, Fifth Wheels, and then Motorhomes. It's been a good ride.

Today we are cleaning the Motorhome for the last time. Tomorrow it goes on consignment. I'm plain wore out. It has become physically more difficult to maintain and I won't let anyone else do it. It's time. I struggled with the idea of giving it up, but after months of consideration, now is the time. As with sailing, aviation, and motor trawlers, once I leave, I don't hang around, so this is my last post. Happy Trails to all of you.

Right back at ya - happy trails. I hope whatever life brings your way, it's similar to what got you to this point. May the wind be at your back and carry you into something not yet ventured.

Some trips make me wonder how long I will want to RV. We bought our first RV in 1982 and have not regretted it, well maybe once or twice when sitting on the side of the road with a flat tire. But it has been fun and we have seen a lot of stuff.

We’ve been RVing off and on for about 30 years. DW has spoken of giving it up (the frozen, powerless Texas “snowbird” trip was hard on her!). I’m not ready yet but I can imagine the day. It’s a LOT of work.

I would also suggest checking into the forums on occasion. The wife and I have been camping in RV's since back in the '70's and have been living full time in our fifth wheel now for 10 years. We are at the stage of "possibly" selling our rig, provided the interested couple chooses to purchase it.

Last November, we (wife, youngest son, and I) took a 3 week vacation back to Utah and Arizona. Instead of taking the RV and constantly moving it, we chose to use VRBO-type facilities to find places to stay. We spent a week in Moab in a "four-plex" unit, a week in Kanab in an apartment, and 3 or 4 days in Williams, AZ in a 100 year old home. If we do get the RV sold, we will continue to travel and use VRBO-type facilities.

Best of luck to you. Hope your next adventure is as good as those before.
I'm pondering how much longer we will be doing this. Hubby had a slight stroke this past week and it's hard doing it all.
Everyone watch out- my next thing is driving!

In 1967 we purchased a new Nomad trailer. Have been camping ever since in tents, trailers, a class A currently a Class C. I think (Hope) I have a few more years.

50 years ago I was a 13 year old kid getting acclimated to travel trailers-an old Thoroughbred as I recall.

Best of luck as you continue Life's journey! We appreciate your contributions here and hope you'll check in once in awhile!

No sticks don’t leave. Never say never to return to RVing.

I am in the same situation: been trough boats, airplanes, motorcycles and I sold my Miramar in 2019. I still monitor this forum in the event some day I will come back to RVing.

I actually had this same argument with myself over Motorcycles three years ago. The eyeballs had deteriorated to the point where I could no longer safely ride.
I hung up my helmet; but still miss it every day.
But I still love talking about bikes and riding, and hope that my experiences can help new riders.
You might stop camping out; but don't ever give up!
