Bonneville Salt Flats

During our travels we once followed the Texas/Mexico border all the way from El Paso to Brownsville then drove over to Corpus Christy for a couple weeks R&R at the Corpus Christy Naval Air Station where we had a large site with a covered patio and a great view of the bay.

One day we drove out the main gate, took a left over the intercoastal and out on the Padre Island beach. It was a beautiful clear day and some guys parked close to us were getting some nice eating size fish from the surf.

There are a lot of beaches just off US-1 in Maine. When I (Cal) was very young this was my go-to beach. It was about 12 miles from our family farm. The sea food restaurant in the first pix is Billy's Chowder House). It was there when I was young. It has been Billy's since 1979. The food and service has always been GREAT.
