Refrig water line

So I'm trying to winterize the refrigerator. I have the Kitchaid french door with water dispenser located inside. First I removed the filter then drained what water was still in system by pushing the water dispense button and had a little bit of water come out. This was before turning on the water pump. I did the antifreeze thing to the entire coach leaving the frig for last. Now with the pump on I'm not getting anything coming out of the dispenser. I even tried 30 psi of air pressure and nothing happens when I push the button. I disconnected the water line to check the valve while running the air pressure and it is working. Thought maybe the line was clogged. So at least the valve is ok. I tried running the ice maker for about 4 hrs with pump running anti-freeze and got 2 white ice cubes. No pink! Ideas anyone?

Look inside your fridge. There is a container that holds what I think is about a gallon of water that you would need to pump through. Your fridge holds water so that you have cold water. Hope this helps.

Should't it pump thru when I have the pump running or even using my air compressor? That's what has me baffled. Does the filter have to be installed for the dispenser to work? Yet it states right on the filter to remove before winterizing. If there is a gallon of water why wont it pump out? I'm going to call KitchenAid today.

Just spent 45 min. on the phone trying to get winterizing instructions from KitchenAid. They said not to use anti-freeze and sent me the following email:

• Refrigerators: disconnect water supply at appliance. Drain all water tubing before packing (see U&C or Installation instructions for steps) Clean drain pump and wrap
1. If your refrigerator has an automatic ice maker:
■ Turn off the water supply to the ice maker at least one day
ahead of time.
■ Disconnect the water line from the back of the refrigerator.
■ When the last load of ice drops, raise the wire shutoff arm
to the OFF (up) position or press the switch to OFF,
depending on your model.
2. Remove all food from the refrigerator and pack all frozen food
in dry ice.
3. Empty the ice bin.
4. Turn off the Temperature control(s). See “Using the Control(s).”
5. Unplug refrigerator.
6. Clean, wipe, and dry thoroughly.
7. Take out all removable parts, wrap them well, and tape them
together so they don’t shift and rattle during the move.
8. Depending on the model, raise the front of the refrigerator so it
rolls more easily OR raise the leveling screws so they don't
scrape the floor. See “Adjust the Door(s)” or “Door Closing
and Door Alignment.”
9. Tape the doors closed and tape the power cord to the back of
the refrigerator

Follow up. I discovered that if you take the filter out without replacing the blue plug that was originally there in its place, no water will flow. I must have throw that away when I installed the filter.

So I put the filter back, turned up the air pressure to 45psi & vola! So I drained out the water, disconnected the water lines and now letting the ice maker run its course overnight. That should do it.

You probably still won't see pink with the filter in. Might call and get another blue bypass plug.

Right. I'm not going to run anti-freeze through the refrigerator. KichenAid said not to. They said they don't put anti-freeze in thier units just follow the manual's instructions for "moving". I am going to ask for another plug.
