Looks like you're prepared for the countdown on a launch pad at Kennedy Space Center.

I know, I hate being that guy who makes the post with the sideways picture. But I don’t know how to edit it to be straight.

With all the beautiful work he's put into that 2004 WindSport, I'd imagine he is only looking, not buying !

I'm guessing you're at the one specific campingworld with the whole flag issue.

Yep, there’s a CW down the road from where we are camping so yes, we had to stop by. Wasn’t a breath of wind yesterday so the flag wasn’t in full display, but I figured you’d all know where I was just the same.
Can’t do a review on my phone but I’ll follow up later.

I am confused... Does this mean you are not preparing for the countdown on a launch pad at Kennedy Space Center? Looks like thrusters off to the side. I was curious to ask if the rear was equipped like a stage that would separate from main coach as you vacated the atmosphere? If so: I hope you never been one to complain about a Thor's claim for warranty being voided due to mod.

Camping World
While I’m enjoying a hot, sweltry weekend at the Shoal Creek Campground, I decided to visit the local Camping World and see what they had to offer. Walking in I noticed there were several sales people standing at the door and you weren’t going anywhere until a salesperson was assigned and then escorted you to the lot. Mine was “Matt”. Matt took me down the hall and asked me what I was looking for. I told him “Class A”, an older diesel or newer V-10.
OK, he said. Was I just shopping or if he could make me the proper deal, would I buy it today? I told him yes, I was serious, and it depended on what he has to offer as to whether I’ll be buying today. OK then, if we find something I like, would I be able to put 10K down to hold the coach until I got financing? I got irritated and told him I would be paying cash, no need to finance, so can we see what he has to offer?
Matt said that he had a couple of older diesels, one was a 2003 Bounder and the other was a name I had not heard of before and I still don’t remember what it was. So off we go to look at the Bounder. The interior was trashed, carpet was torn and worn out, the night/day shades were literally hanging in shambles, the captain chairs looked like a dog had chewed them up (seriously) and the interior was in general disarray.
The outside had been hit in the rear and not repaired, one of the rear basement hatch covers was smashed and hanging by a hinge and there was a deep scratch that went the entire length of the main slideout. The paint was faded beyond a coach of its years and it was clear that maintenance was not something this coach had ever received. And the battery was dead, so it wouldn’t start. I was seriously shocked that he even considered me to be stupid enough to buy this thing. How much I asked, purely out of curiosity and not with serious intent. $50K he says.
I’ll move past my response, but it’s safe to say that Matt readjusted his entire sales effort and started to focus on showing us some product that was more in line with what we had come to see.
We looked at the Hurricane, the Holiday Rambler, Vacationer, the Thor Precept and a couple of others. To be honest, Matt turned out to be a nice fellow once we all got on the same page, and all the Thor’s and Holiday Ramblers were beautiful RV’s. The problem was that every time Matt showed me something he considered a selling point, I pointed out that it was not really not much of an asset at all.
For instance, Matt showed me one of the Thor’s that was set up for solar so all I had to do was buy some panels and I could run my appliances off the sun. I pointed out that the 2, 12-volt 125 ah batteries wouldn’t run much more than a tv, and the solar controller was a 10amp PWM, so even with full-on sun we couldn’t charge much.
He pointed out the large amount of storage in the basements and I pointed out that 3 of the basement doors were so far out of adjustment that they had to be forced to get them to close. (Picture below)
So, this was how it went for an hour or so, and when Matt realized that all the bells and whistles that he normally uses to sell a MH weren’t going to result in a sale, he thanked us for coming in and said he would email us some info this evening. I really have no issue with that, Matt pays his bills selling MH’s and it was clear that I wasn’t going to buy one.

Next stop, RV World of Georgia. What a difference! We were greeted by a young lady who asked us what we were looking for and then pointed us to that area. All the RV doors were unlocked so we got to go through each unit at our own pace. I found several (older) higher-end MH’s and that was exactly what I was looking for. One, a 2008 Revolution 40’ LE, set particular well with me.
I rounded up a salesperson and asked a gazillion questions, which I got straight answers to. I got their asking price but even after the normal negotiation I’m sure the price will be more than I’m willing to pay. Not that the price is out of line, it’s just not low enough to make me jump ship and write the check. I’m a patient guy and have never acted on an impulse sale. Well, not in a long time anyway.
Fit and finish was exquisite, maintenance was clearly a focus of the PO, full body paint, serious set of house batteries, inverters that will run everything in the coach, tile floors, full length drivers side slide, apposing slides on the passenger side, 400 hp diesel, new tires, and only 31,000 miles on the clock. Absolutely immaculate coach.
Asking price was 130K, same as the Thor. The Thor was brand new with 3-year warranty, this unit is 11 years old and no warranty. But it’s easy to see that, even without a warranty, the Revolution is a superior coach in every way.
I didn’t sleep at all last night. Probably won’t sleep much tonight either…

Absolutely will be launching according to schedule. I can't tell you what that schedule is, otherwise I'd have to .... well, you know how that ends, right?

This is where CW issues start...the minute you walk in the door. They stand there, waiting on their "turn". Interestingly, he didn't ask you anything about your camping style, how many miles a year you planned to travel, how many members and the ages of your family...nothing related to a specific coach style. He dove directly into the closing process...unbeknownst that people today as so on to that stupid, superficial process...and then he immediately classified you as a poor credit, can't get financing and knows nothing about RV's...by taking you to the dumpiest RV on the lot. Sadly, the "sales process" doesn't get any better with most of them. The turnover is huge and they (the salesgoobers) know nothing about RV's. Walk into a high end car dealership where the average price is $120K...you'll be met by a true, accomplished sales professional that knows his products and has made a very good living for himself selling high end cars. It's amazing how...with all CW has to work with...that they still don't "get it" with the sales process. "Assigning" you to a salesgoober that treats you like a "Buy Here-Pay Here" customer is such an insult...and it's the first thing you deal with when you walk in the door. Sorta like timeshare at Caribbean resorts.

Well it was somewhat of a shocker, that's for sure.
We were staying at the campground so I looked at my wife and quietly asked her if we were dressed appropriately? (I've been known to dress rather shabbily from time-to-time ) She smiled and said, "Aside from having two different color socks on, there's nothing wrong with the way you are dressed."
She was kidding of course, but I looked anyway.

I’d not paint all CW salesgoobers with the same brush. I’ve had dreadful, ill informed and rude ones for sure but the last one I had was smart, experienced, honest and hard working. Just need to have the willing to ask for a different sales person or just leave.
