Picking up my new rig!
We left Franklin NC at 8:30 this morning. Traffic was minimal until we hit Atlanta and then it went to hell in a hand basket.
Apparently all the people who left Florida to escape the hurricane were returning home today and driving was horrible.
We got to Ocala about 6:30, checked in our hotel, walked the dogs and ate a Chick-fil-a sandwich. And now I’m going to get some sleep and get ready for tomorrow’s inspection. I’ve got about 3 hours scheduled for the walkthrough and then, assuming all is OK, we’re heading for a campground in Lake City.
So wish me luck! I’m really looking forward to this!

Everything. Absolutely everything, gets turned on early in the inspection and left to run all during it.
The slides don't get tried once, they get tried a dozen times.
The awning? A dozen times.
Faucets? On for the whole inspection, then refill the fresh water tank and run them some more.
Dash ac? Ran the entire time.
Got water? Run it the whole time.
Shut things off only so you can hear what you need to hear, then turn it all back on again.
Get on the roof even if you're skeered, don't forget to check the shower skylight and the tank vents.
Fridge on.
Make sure the tires are inflated correctly. On of ours read 20psi....
No excuses from the guy demonstrating. Do it and tell him to shut up if he doesn't like it.

Congratulations!!!
What did you get? Did you by chance give them a list of things to fix before the PDI? Everytime we close, we do a deep dive to make a list of all we can find wrong before the actual buying PDI process.
I don't know if that is good or bad? I do know that we find lots of things wrong and we tend to get cold feet in believing they would fix. They say they will, but some of the list are so long; I just don't see how they fix it all amd still make money.

Spent a simi-restful night at La Quinta Friday night, only had to get up 4 times for the dogs. We were up at 6:00 for a tasty waffle, complements of the La Quinta folks, and then we hit the road for the last 3-hour leg of the drive.
We met with the seller about 11:00 and finished our inspection about 3:00. I don’t think I missed much but time will tell. There are a few things that will need to be addressed but for the most part, I’m happy. I’m not buying a new coach so I’m not expecting perfection.
We hit the road for the 4-hour drive to the campground in Lake City FL, Traffic was nasty and we didn’t get there until 9:30. Wasn’t thrilled about driving at night that early in my new relationship with the coach but we did it and we made it. Neighbor’s probably weren’t happy to hear the air brakes that late but I’ll go make friends with them in a bit.
So here we are, hanging out in FL for the day. And yes, it's hot as all get out.

A quick review of the new-to-me RV towing a 5K Jeep.
I've been driving a 35', 22K lb,V-10 for the last 6 months and this is a 40',32Klb, 8.2 diesel.
The ride, stability and performance is simply phenomenal !!! On cruse, it purrs at 65mph, doesn't struggle with inclines and is as stable as a house. The large truck/trailers only create a slight push and steering is almost a 1-finger operation.
All this comfort can be problematic though, as I was exhausted after the last couple of days and it was getting difficult to stay observant of the surroundings. Especially at night.
The ducted air conditioning is mucho quiet, although I don't think it's as efficient. But I'm in FL right now and it's 104 outside.
Think I'll hit the pool...

Congrats on the new rig, it sounds wonderful. Hope you both get some rest and enjoy your camping while you get acquainted with new best friend.

I'm home!
Left Lake City around 9:00am and arrived home (in North Carolina) at 4:30pm. Long day for all of us.
The dogs were real troopers but they sure were happy to get home and run in the field. No issues and the coach ran 65 mph all day except for Atlanta where we hit 80+. Atlanta sucks. If you're driving under 80 your a hazard to everyone else.
Anyhow, we're here and the cold beer sure does taste good! :-)
Edit: Looking back on my wife's records, we ran 75 mph through Atlanta, not 80. Sorry for that misinformation. (Sure felt like 80 though!)

Your coach is beautiful. Our dogs are important to us and thats why we need a MH. Don’t do much traveling cause don’t want to leave them. Buying might not be doable for us though. We are hoping to rent a Thor in March and traveling to Florida. We are in Idaho.

Yep! We bought our rig so we could take our dogs with us. When we go somewhere without them, I feel really guilty!
