RV Insurance

Looking for recommendations for insurance on my 2017 Vegas after current insurance (Progressive) increased 30%. Has anyone experienced the same? Thanks in advance. Stay safe.

After years of annual insurance cost staying the same or going down a few dollars, National General raised my renewal rates by about 15%. I suspect it was to recoup the 15% discount for one month they "granted" last year due to C19, which happened after I had renewed for the year (paid in full up front) so I never saw that "discount". I'm letting it ride this time but next renewal will be interesting.

Find yourself an Independent Agent who represents several companies.

Generally best rates occur when home, autos, and RV are with the same insurance company.

So now do a hard target search!

And you don't have young teen drivers at home. Ugh! It's no wonder fewer teens are driving these days - many people wouldn't be able to afford the insurance!

I’ve had State Farm for house, cars, motorcycles, umbrella and more for more than half of a century. I’m very happy with them. But they didn’t get my RV coverage. They were expensive at over $1000/year and did not offer many desirable RV specific features that others did. Call Good Sam. They are connected with several insurers. Hooked me up with a terrific policy through Progressive and now I pay $650/year. Had a stolen catalytic converter claim last year and I was very pleased with their service and support. Also, I think Good Sam will send you a $50 gift card just for getting a quote. Or at least they did last time I called.

I shop every year before renewal, and for us Nationwide has the best deal. Their coverage includes new replacement for coaches up to 5 years old. Now that we're at that threshold, we may find something better.
So many factors affect your premium costs, especially credit scores. In Florida, glass coverage has no deductible.
Your results will always vary.

We have full coverage and all bells and whistles with Progressive, they sent us rebate last year but nothing relevant if I recall? Dec 2020 our rate dropped by 30% so I immediately renewed without asking any questions.

I expect it to increase this year because I just filed a Windshield claim $0 Deductible. They say it is not suppose to affect the rate, but I don't believe them. We had two hail storms in our area but neither damage the RV, Boat or Motorcycles and they were all outside The boat has mooring cover but the bikes are fully covered, the RV has nothing. They knew of the storms in area because they reached out to us both times asking if we needed to file a claim and we said no. But we may see an increase Dec 2021; just because of the math due to area we live in?

So a liability policy only then. No collision, no comprehensive, no uninsured motorist coverage.

Doesn't really cover your interest in the MH and it must be paid for as a lien holder would require full coverage.

Oh my! I'm not willing to risk all of my personal assets with that minimal coverage.

I suppose ‘to each their own’, as I believe insurance is over-sold.

I suppose ‘to each their own’, as I believe insurance is over-sold. I ‘self-insure’, but I should put my situation in context: RV is a little more than 1% of my net worth. I lied about the HELOC, only adding it to not sound like a boast that I paid cash. I own many other vehicles with minimal insurance, & never had an issue other than a new RV windshield last year as I previously posted on this forum. Property assets are protected in land trusts owned by WY LLCs, & all vehicles owned by a separate WY LLC. No one should ever put their valuable assets in their own name! I take dirt bikes & YZXs to the desert & mountain trails. Rarely do I stay in an RV park.
