Thor Axis?
My wife and I went to a local RV show today to see the 2021 Thor Axis or Vegas. We had no luck as they told us that the only Vegas they had was sold 2 days before and was removed from the show for prep for the new owners.
When we got back home I browsed to the Thor webpage to see what I could find and I could not find the Axis listed under the Class A gas motor homes, nor could I find one at any Thor dealer I check with. Does Thor still make the Axis? Or is it now only the Vegas? I know the two were virtually identical, so this is more out of curiosity than anything else.

Although to be completely honest I have no idea what an RUV is. I know it stands for Recreation Utility Vehicle but I don't know what that is supposed to mean. An SUV is generally an all-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicle, basically a small truck, but I don't have any idea what difference constitutes making an RV an RUV. Probably just marketing blab.

Yup: Marketing term invented by Thor. I believe that the implication is that these are small enough that you can use them for other things besides simply going to a campground and parking them (of course that could be said for just about any RV in the 25ft and under range).
We've used our 24.1 for mostly camping and a couple "tailgates" at youth baseball games (it was a hit at the games, however LOL). Oh yeah; took it to a concert once as well.

Both my wife and I love the floor plan of the 24.1 but it is hard to actually find one around here. We were looking 2 years ago and walked through one on the local dealer's lot and thought it was great. My wife was concerned about the height of the RV since she was convinced it was much taller than it actually was, so we looked for something else.
When we went to the local RV show yesterday the only Vegas that they had had already been sold and removed from the floor and when we were driving home we both commented on how much we liked that floor plan. They must be very popular to have all disappeared - the closest new model that I can find is 400 miles away - or perhaps the market is just so hot now that lower cost RVs like the Vegas are just being bought as quickly as they can be made.

RV's are a very hot commodity these days. Our local RV dealers have about 1/4 the inventory on the lot as they usually do.

I wonder how long this boom will last.
I assume most of this has to do with the Coronavirus and people not wanting to stay at hotels or get on airplanes. I know I would not feel comfortable staying at a hotel and my wife has never liked them and I would not care to fly someplace unless I was going someplace I could not drive to, like London or Paris.
Given that I wonder if there will be a big surplus of used RVs for sale in the next year or so.

Yup that is the general consensus: After some time many of these new buyers will decide, for whatever reason, that they don't want it anymore....

Yes. Not everyone really likes sitting in the middle of nowhere just enjoying the solitude, or getting by without their usual comforts. The RV lifestyle is really not for everyone and the large number of new campers are likely to fill campgrounds and make the experience for some even less pleasant.
I just wonder if there will be a large number of lightly used RVs for sale a year from now.

'to boldly go where tens of thousands have before'.
There's nothing so fine as being crammed in a rv park where your neighbors uneducatedly attached slinky is 15ft from your side door.
People be sheeple.
We can't take their brand of
'happy to be ignorant, just as happy to blame the industry because I didn't pay attention during pdi'
As a reading of educated rv owners but the happily hapless are getting be what seems to be a majority.
But
We can take financial advantage of their refusal to go into rv purchase with open eyes.
Cash is king.
Some of us will be here to take advantage of their lack of involvement.
We're already seeing their questions here.
They Wrote a check, bought a financial wreck.
I have no way to take advantage of the upcoming situation. I'm perfectly happy with the rv we have.
But
Due to low down payments and long long long stupid long loan terms, we'll be buying the units from banks and credit unions. Upside down and no substantial reason to not just quit making payments.
The term used to be

Perhaps, but I have two major concerns. First is that some of these are being built at full manufacturing capacity, and after the RV industry had been declining for a while. I’m not sure what effect the corona virus surge had on labor skills.
Second concern is whether owners who are new to motorhomes will cause a disproportional amount of damage over a relatively short period. I fear they could be like renters who can be hard on equipment due to lack of experience; although owning the RV should make them take better care than those who rent.
Hope we’re back to normal in a year.

We own a 2019 Axis 25.2 and have lived in it full time for 18 months now. Thor no longer makes our floor plan with the slideout bedroom at the rear, but we are happy with ours. As our very first unit, we did not want to go too big. Axis and Vegas are identical except for color schemes. We have added An aftermarket HWH leveling sYstem to make setting up easier than trying to figure out how many blocks to use on each side. It was well worth the $6,000 if you cannot find a unit equipped with them. We also changed out the flimsy mattress with a Dynasty CoolBreeze 10" from Amazon for $349 And it was well worth it! We did have to replace our bedframe after a year of full time use (the poor frame was subjected to 600 lbs between us), as several welds broke. Thor was very gracious and shipped to us at no charge. We had to pay CW to have it installed. We had to replace our batteries with stronger ones when we added the leveling system, because it draws a lot. Other than nitnoid items, we have not had problems, but the GoodSam bumper to bumper warranty at $800 a year is well worth it, too.

65% of list price is a good reduction
Especially during this high demand seller’s market
Thor’s website lists the 27.7 @ $130k, the 24.1 @ $117k
Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your new RV purchase.

During the pandemic we’ve used our Axis to go out to dinner. Order online, have a nice hot meal in comfort rather than taking it home and reheating. We can park most places no problem.
Might seem crazy but makes all this Craziness more bearable .

Vegas 27.7.
I will agree that a leveling system is a great added item.
I added a Big Foot Leveling system for $3,900.00 material and labor and it has not caused any issues for the standard batteries. I hope I do not have to live without the leveling system. Stop late at night and never leave the coach.

At our closest, Red Lobster there are usually 10-15 cars and 5-7 RV in the huge parking lot for 7 pm supper on Friday night. It is getting to be a small rally with more every week. Gotta have some cheddar bay biscuits each week to say sane.

OK, we're going to do the take the rv to take out thing.
I like that. A lot.
Cheddar biscuits are good.
The red lobster cheddar biscuit mix available to make them at home... Not so much.

I’m familiar with the unit your inquiring about. I have been monitoring this site for years and I see multiple posts from people that own them. They have nothing good to say about them. Read the reviews carefully before pulling the trigger on one of these.
