Thor rv 2016

I visited a campsite and was able to connect to their cable TV connection on my first visit. This time it will not work. I turned off the Antenna boaster which now does not pick up over the air channels. The site checked their feed and found others that were ok with the feed.

What is the issue I have Seiki TVs.

SomebRv parks have a cable system which requires a special decoder Seiki and axxera probably do not have.
You'll might need to either watch Ota or Predownload entertainment at more than half the parks you stop at.

TCL Tv's on amazon are great alternatives at $120.

The seeking tvs do not have QAM tuners to allow use in encoded cable. You can buy QAM cable box or boxes. That may solve the issue

Army, are you saying that it worked on your first visit but not the second? Same RV park? I have a 2016 ACE with original TVs and have never had a problem with cable in 4 years. Source set to the correct setting? Did you scan? Have I just been lucky?

Fixed That For You (FTFY). I've never seen a box with a QAM tuner. The boxes I have seen have ATSC Digital tuners for Over The Air (OTA) TV reception.

The new encrypted digital cable systems all require and external box to decrypt the signal.

Replace the Seiki. It's junk. Just so you can feel good about it, use the Seiki for a leveling board. Spend $138 for a smart tv.

We stayed at some parks that had the newer cable setups and our two Sucky TVs didn't work. Before our next big trip, I replaced one with a new smart TV. Now after dozens of campgrounds with cable, all of them worked with the remaining Sucky TV. So it goes.

I wouldn't waste money on a QAM box, just replace if you want.

One more thing, you know you have to go into the menu on the TV and set to cable or air, then do a scan for channels. That seems obvious, but no one mentioned that so far.

Can anyone tell me what Direct TV air channels are? I have new Smart TVs in my Axis and can do a scan for DTV air and cable but do not seem to be able to scan for my roof antenna like before.

You know Direct TV is Satellite TV?

I think you are asking about Over The Air (OTA) TV or broadcast TV. You need to push the little button to turn on the amplifier in your TV antenna before you scan.

That same button turns off the amplifier when you use Cable TV (CATV).

Update on scan

I know about the amplifier button and Direct TV being satellite. When I use a new Samsung Smart TV, I go to settings and TVPlus and broadcast and then scans, three options appear - DTV Air, air, and cable. If I scan with the amplifier button off (no green light), the scan detects DTV air channels. If I turn the amp on and raise my roof antenna, I can scan for air channels ,but do not get any.

I assume DTV stands for Digital TV and Air is for the old analog OTA channels which don't exist anymore except for a very few low power local broadcasts.
Turn the amplifier on and scan for DTV channels with the antenna up.
