28a vs 28z weight difference

Can anyone tell me the difference in dry weights with the slide in a 28z compared to no slide in a 28a Thanks

Welcome to the Forum

The on-line Thor spec sheet lists same exact specs regarding weights.
It lists the 28Z with a longer length & wheelbase than the 28A

I’m not sure how you would get any more info than that.

Yes, GVWR maximum weight are both 14,500. What I'm looking for is the base weight for both campers so I can find out how much the slide weighs. On a travel trailer they list the dry weights but not on a Class C. Thanks

We are thinking of purchasing a 2017, 2018, 2019 Thor Four Winds or Chateau 28A with Ford or 28Z? Does anyone own one and if you do any issues or pluses about either one. We appreciate your time.

Suggest you call Thor
And even they may not have your answer

That is, the wood and track system used for a slide is minimal (probably 200-400#, if that) vs no slide.

All the interior furniture and cabinets are the same weight in both.
So it’s just the wood box and track and motors that will add weight.

PS - Google slide vs no slide. You’ll get a variety of answers

They're essentially the same floor plan, but the 28Z has a slide. Slides add significant weight (300-400 lbs usually), so the 28A will have a higher OCCC. As to how much higher, you'll likely have to find one of each at a dealer lot, or someone that has one, and have them send you the OCCC off the sticker on the door.

The weight for the 28Z is 11,960, empty but with a full tank of fuel. Maybe someone else has the weight of the 28A.

We have a 2020 28Z and really love the floorplan. When we are traveling and stop at a rest stop or truck stop, we don't need to extend the slide to function. Can cook, use the bathroom, nap etc. That said, the slide is super nice when we are camping. Love the extra elbowroom.

I have a 2016 Freedom Elite 28H. Exact floor plan as the 28Z. The slide is great even if it is only 17 more inches inside but what I like is the enormous storage in the back. Have not seen another RV like it.

The basement storage is amazing! I've been doing some window shopping recently and it's hard to find a 30' MH with the amount of storage as the 28Z.
