Not really. They are designed to be pressed into position as it is fully opened. You will notice the flange moulding around the slide (inside) is pressed up against the walls when fully extended. By doing that it is fully supported and the weight is taken off the slide body and it's mechanisms.
Side note: If you have the Swinteck slide (has the silver track on top and bottom of slide outside) They have a habit of going out of sync) You always want to count to 3 before releasing the slide power button when it is all the in or out. That way it keeps both motors/tracks on each side in sync.
