Could it be that your manual requires common sense? I know you do but I am talking all in general public. i.e. If you are parked on a 8 degree incline, and you decide to not level, but you put out the slide because the manual says leveling is not required? I would not put out slide knowing coach was unlevel or even stabilize for that matter.
There was NOT one brand new Thor ACE 29.3 or Windsport/Hurricane that we looked at on dealers lot that did not have slide issues
Slide issues use to my biggest fear with buying an RV as a result. Never had a slide issue with SOB RV we bought ( knock on wood). I do follow the manual step by step which is to 1) level, 2) extend slide 3) level again if necessary. I have never had to use step 3. I use one of those digital leveler sensor with the green / red that is actually pretty slick. There have been times where it showed the coach level and jack's were not extended and I may have put the slide out. i.e. as a rest stop.
I wonder though why the coach will allow you to level when auto level is NOT confirmed on and coach is confirmed electronically level?
The other thing is I never stop the slide when extended or retracting (emergencies excluded). I will frequently forget to CLOSE the bath door when retracting and realize about halfway retracted. I complete retracting the slide, complete fully extending the slide, CLOSE door and then retract slide again.
