What 16ACEC27 right, I will have to make a note of that and add it to my pile of 9,499 other helpful notes from the ACE I believe I am starting to detect a trend

Let's see if he makes it to 10,000 without slipping

Maryland, All vehicles

I didn’t stop, I was stopped, escorted back and received a warning even though I was 3k under

Texas law states that any vehicle driven/towed over 26001lbs the driver needs a non commercial CDL. The Gray area of that law is that at the bottom there's about a 1/2 dozen exemptions most agriculture related with the last states "or for personal recreation use". I ask several DMV employees & a couple LEOs that I know & its about 50/50 whether personal rvs are exempt or not.
I've also towed 5th wheels coast to coast border to border & never stopped at a weigh station nor did I have a non commercial CDL, never flagged down for not stopping & never questioned about my drivers license.
When traveling across this great country you only need to be legal in your state of residence. If California sited me for not having their legal driver's license I'd have to get lawyers involved because I'm legal where I reside & it damn sure wouldn't be California.

DL Requirements is where your licensed not where your driving. Weight requirements are where your driving not where your licensed.

I have a GMC 2500HD with 6" lift and 325-60-20's and weights almost 9,000 pounds...it trips those lights also. It's about the size and weight...not type of vehicle. Too much weight for wheelbase...too high for length...lots of data controls it. RV's are not required to stop unless it specifically states that.

The "tripped" light says "Truck enter weigh station". I'm not a truck so I ignore it. Never been chased down.

Whose driving their RV at 2:00 AM unless you're a transporter. which is a commercial job, and would require you to stop.

Ain't that the truth, on both accounts.

I remember talking to the Oklahoma authorities about whether I should stop or not and out of all the rules, one they may clear. They don't take pictures of license plates to send you a fine in the mail, they said with authority, "they will run you down." I guess those with 5 Star Tuning don't worry

I never stopped and I never got chased down. I DID see a weigh station sign out west somewhere one time that said all vehicles over (some weight that was about what we weighed) must stop. It said all vehicles. I didn’t stop though.

I never stopped and I didn't get run down either. But they took my picture and had my license plates. I was not at peace until later I called the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, Motor Carrier Enforcement and ultimately the Motor Carrier Requirements

This is what I learned from Agent via phone.

1. The requirement to stop is only intended for Commercial in Oklahoma
2. If you are driving a RV for pay (transporting) you need to stop
3. If your daughter pays you $50 to take her someplace in your RV you need to stop ( agent laugh and said just don't tell them that if it were true
4. Their rules do not apply for the Turnpikes in Oklahoma.
5. Agent says it is very common for false signals to trigger the lights to take pictures, i.e. false weights etc. He says he has had the lights trigger him in his truck.
6. He says if drivers don't stop the enforcement officer will run you down, but they would never run down a RV.
7. They have the pictures for proof of the big trucks.
8. They would never mail a fine to the license plate holder, he emphasized they will run you down. ( I think they live to run a big trucks down )

Does Oklahoma require RVs to Check in Weigh Stations?

I ask because that little detector somehow came on when we passed by and it said "All Trucks must check in" I am sure it flashed to take a picture like at a toll? I figured I was NOT a truck; and then another light blinking was saying to exit? I had wife and kids in the RV sleep and I did not know what to do; so I kept driving to see if Police were going to pull us over? I felt like a fugitive all the way through Oklahoma, I was NOT about to stop until I safely crossed the border into Texas (where it is safe across the Red River)

Am I a fugitive or in trouble in Oklahoma? I have 29 ft Class A RV, I was NOT towing anything nor was I close to speeding. Until this morning I considered myself a law abiding citizen?
It does this to us everytime we've traveled to Oklahoma...and we're still good. We even got pulled over for a taillight our and weren't questioned, ticketed or worse. You're good! If you go commercial you'll have to listen to your device.

DK - Don’t fret. Call Bob Denman using your one phone call from jail. I’m sure he can negotiate the release of your wife and grandkids. You, I’m not sure. Maybe you can swap the coach for your release and thumb home while Bob takes care of the fam.

Just because RV's are generally not bothered about weighing in does not mean that some young "Bye the Book" won't get a bug up his butt and decide to make an "example" of some "rich" RV owner.

I know Bob has a lot of power, but if negotiate release of grandkids for me, he must be beyond the power of God, because we don't have Grandkids

None of our kids are even married, so I got a while for that experience.

You mean like when Barney Fife gave the Governor of North Carolina a ticket for parking his limo in front of the court house

I once got a call from the future from my grandson. It must have been from at least 20 years from now.

That may be true, but I do know if I do have any, they are not costing me anything, and more importantly; if I have to call Bob Dennan down from New York to Oklahoma; he will not have to worry about obtaining release for any grandkids from Jail should I continue to drive by those weigh stations lights flashing or not.

I can only carry enough beer as it is to keep my weight down, I am certainly would hate to have to add more beer to support Grandkids that I don't even know
