While hydraulic levelers and hydraulic slides tend to require the engine running, I'm sure that they are also locked-out while the transmission is engaged, just like electric slide motors are locked-out when the ignition is engaged.
Hydraulics tend to need a bigger boost when operating, hence the need for the engine to be running, but 12v electric slide motors work just fine off the House batteries, so no engine running is needed.

On the other hand, while most might think that my Palazzo's LCI Hydraulic levelers might require the engine to be running, it does NOT. They work perfectly fine without it, though the Ignition DOES have to be engaged.
But, if the ignition is engaged, neither my electric Slides or Awning will work, even though you would think that they would be designed to at least come UP, or IN, even with the ignition on or engine running. The front shade works this way... at least.

Again, the Aria's have Schwintek slides. The ignition needs to be on (not necessarily running) to operate them. The parking brake must be engaged. This alone keeps them from being deployed while going down the road.

that's interesting... but I suppose it goes back to the reality that even different models within the same manufacturing don't apply the same 'rules' to the same systems. I'm glad I don't have to have the ignition on in order to run in/out our slides. But, I suppose you can adjust your procedures depending on the coach's requirements - it seems as though so many are different, and I'm sure there's reasons why.

Really; at this point it wouldn't surprise me if a 24.1 next to mine needed the ignition on to extend their slide ! LOL

My Aria is using Schwintek slides and the motor must be running (correction, the key must be on).
