Dealer gave up on Awning

Upon pickup of new 2021 gemini, dealorship never was able to get mine to work properly, so I agreed to bypass the auto-retrack feature (rolls up on own once wind is detected). Now, an override extend/retact button is what I use, installed by the dealership. I did not have a choice, eventually a person has to go home. But anything that complicated (auto-retrack) may be more trouble than it is worth. Perhaps your's is due to faulty retract electronics.

Moved your post to its own thread. You are talking about an awning. The thread you posted in was about sunshades: two different things.

What kind of support did Thor offer the dealer? If none, why?

... and the reason Thor ok'd the dealer jerry-rigging an extend/retract switch rather than replacing the awning is what?

I have a Carefree Auto-Retract Awning and it has worked just fine sine day one.

If you are under warranty, your dealer should have worked with Thor verify the wiring and replace everything if that is what it takes to get working as designed.

I think you left them both off the hook.

If you have an awning problem get it fixed. You don’t want an awning coming open when you are driving 55 mph on an interstate.

I am talking from experience. Research awning recall to read all about it. The awnings were incorrectly wired at the manufacturer based on incorrect installation instructions.

Hopefully you have a Carefree of Colorado Latitude patio awning. The wiring cable consist of a power (red), ground (black), extend (brown), retract (gray) and yellow signal wire. For the awning to operate correctly. the awning should be powered continually when the ignition is off. In the forward end of the awning there is a control module and movement sensor. Crossing the brown and yellow wires momentary will cause the awning to extend completely. The control module monitors current draw thus knows when the awning has started to retract and stops movement. Crossing the yellow and gray wires will start the retraction sequence. When the motor stalls the controller will shut off power to the motor. The movement sensor has to detect two rapid flaps of the awning to activate the motor. This can be tested when the awning is out by wrapping the forward end of the roller twice with a stick or broom handle. Complete installation instruction, parts list and owners manual are available on line.
