Holding tank problem

1st trip with our new Thor Miramar 2017 rv
The gray water is going in to the black water holding tank! We are having to dump every day. It is only 2 of us in the rv and we are gone all day exploring so this is impossible!
Help is there a valve we are missing or a factory mess up!

Do you leave both tanks open when draining?

Each tank is closed and one at a time is drained. The black tank continues to fill up

The bathroom sink drains to the black water tank. Kitchen sink and shower drain to gray.

Bathroom sink and toilet drain to the black water tank. Kitchen sink and shower drain to the grey water tank. When I'm hooked up to sewer I leave the grey valve open. Are you sure it's full? Turn water off and open toilet, shine flashlight, to verify level. Hope it helps.

What are you basing the comment that the black tank fills every day? Are you basing it on the sensors showing the status as full?

If so, the sensors are extremely unreliable. Shine a flashlight down the toilet and hold the flush open.

I think the question is what makes you think its full?

The gauges are notoriously inaccurate... Looking inside, or no longer flushing would tell you its truly full.

If it is, look for a water leak in toilet or bathroom sink.. As running water can fill it quickly.

If you have not done so contact Thor and ask for the waste plumbing diagrams for your coach. Those diagrams will show you which fixtures drain into which tank. On some coaches the bathroom sink drains into the black tank. On my coach only the toilet drains into black. All other fixtures dray into one of the 2 grey tanks.

Also, I have not had to do it on this coach but my prior class c (Forest River) had a method for calibrating the sensors so the correct indicator came on at the correct tank level. I am not sure if Thor has something similar on these tank sensors since I have not looked for the tiny calibration screws. I'll need to check that out on my next trip out to the coach.

On our 2016 hurricane the black and gray valves and sensors were reversed. Also our kitchen sink drains into our black tank.

Thank you ! We definitely think something is plumbed wrong. We do not rely on sensors, as we know they can be inaccurate. Will be contacting Thor and dealership because there is a problem. We have been camping for 25 years!

Something you can do in the mean time.

Drain your black and grey tanks.
Run about two gallons of water through the kitchen sink. Pull the grey and black tank valves (one at a time) and see which tank the sink drained into and then close the valve when the tank is empty. Do the same for the bathroom sink, shower, and toilet.

By doing this you can determine what fixtures drain into which tanks before receiving the diagrams or talking to the dealer.

When I bought my coach neither the dealer not the Thor regional rep could tell me with any certainty which fixtures drained into which tanks. I performed the above while waiting on the diagrams from Thor. It took me about an hour but gave me some peace of mind while beginning to learn the new coach.

At this time we have a strong feeling that our shower is emptying into our black tank. All tanks were empty and we both took showers and black tank 2/3 full. Somebody screwed up that's for sure.

Called Thor technical support today!
Our Shower and bathroom sink are emptying into the blackwater tank!
Technical support said "oh yes, that is code that is how we make them.
Called twice and got the same answer.

This is total bullshit! Why to we have two gray water tanks, for the kitchen sink.

we would have never purchased an RV built like this.

Might be time for a lawyer!
