House batteries not charging

2017 freedom elite 26he. House batteries do not charge while running generator or while hooked up to shore power. They do charge through the chassis battery while driving.
Where would I find the fuse?

There are several reasons your house batteries may not be charging from the converter:

1 - The converter may be bad: But if your interior lights work when plugged into SP that may not be the case.
2 - Your USE/STORE (battery disconnect) latching relay is open: Make sure you are in USE.
3 - The 50 Amp DC breaker near the house batteries that supplies the DC buss is tripped:

Find it, push the button to trip it, push the flag back in to reset it.

4 - The reverse polarity fuses in the Power Center may be blown: Not likely unless you just changed out your house batteries and shorted something out or hooked them up backwards:

Good luck!

All Thor MCs have a 50 amp 12 volt circuit breaker or near the house batteries. All have a red or yellow tripped flag and some have a press to test button. The breaker is there to protect the wiring (# 6awg cable) from the batteries to the power center. To charge the house batteries from shore power or the generator, the power center's 15 amp 120 volt circuit breaker must be in (not tripped), the master power or use/store relay in the on/use position and the 50 amp 12 volt circuit breaker in the house battery compartment -set.

@magicofmassage

Can you tell me how you tested the relay? I’m currently trying to solve this same issue in my RV.

When I looked in there it was fried so it was obvious by looking at it. It has fuses on it which were blown.

When it is supposed to be closed (USE): measure the voltage to ground from each of the main posts - they should be the same

When it is supposed to be open(STORE): with SP disconnected; measure the voltage to ground from each of the main posts - one side should read in the 12 volt range, the other side 0 volts.

I had that. Check the batteries and the terminals were crusted. Cleaned them with a wire brush and good to go.

Check connection

I had the same thing on my rig. It was the cord coming loose from the converter under the bed.

I just bought a 2016 Thor 23a, but I cannot find

1. converter
2. use/store switch
3. 50 amp dc breaker

Is there any resource online to help me find these things?

I found the Thor Motor Coach Owner's Resources page but the documents are not specific enough.

Greatly appreciate any guidance.

1. converter - is probably just a circuit assembly in the bottom of your Power Center where the AC breakers and DC fuses ate located. You have to take the whole front panel off:

2. use/store switch - Should be a bank of switches near the entry door that may or may not be marked. They control the USE/STORE latching relay, Porch Light, Awning, LED strip (if equipped). It should create an audible CLUNK in the RV at the latching relay when it changes state.

3. 50 amp dc breaker - These can be a bear on a Class C. It will be close to the house batteries but Thor hides them pretty good. Possibly under the battery boxes, maybe in a battery box. It's simply a matter of following the cables from the house batteries positive terminals.

Unless someone else has the exact same model and posted a YouTube video with the information you are seeking we just have to go by generalizations.

Ted is correct on all 3. The 50 amp CB is at end of the battery compartment's positive pigtail(s). Pig tail(s) are the short battery cable(s) that go from the battery terminals to the CB. By design these, pig tails must be as short as possible to the CB as the CB is meant to protect the wire going to the battery isolation relay.
#2 This battery relay is controlled by a switch (use/store or master power) near the entry door to the coach. It is usually on the right entry side wall near the entry light's switch. The battery isolation relay will be beside or behind the power center, as it supplies battery to the main 12 volt fuse bus. The power center is where all your 120 volt circuit breakers and main 12 volt fuses are located.

#1 Most of the time your charger/converter will be located in the bottom of the power center.
