Sh#%%y Job

I started noticing our black water tank wasn't completely emptying the last couple of time we were out. So I grabbed my rubber gloves and buckets and started looking for the blockage. Lucky because of the design of our rig we have two blade valves on the black water tank, so I was able to isolate the drainage pipe. After a little draining and probing with a coat hanger I was able to find the blockage and remove it. Imagine my surprise when I found the plug left over from the manufacture. I'm really thinking of sending it back to Thor.

It's good that you had an opportunity to get it fixed before it caused a problem out on the road!

No surprise, it's a common problem in these RVs. Wish I could say that was the first I have heard of this issue, but sadly, it is not.

Thanks. Still in the hospital, and they have it hooked up to a "wound-vac". They do see some tissue growth; so that's a good sign!

One of the skill sets required to work on any RV production line is how to kick the plastic cut out back into the tank, seems to be something that has been going on for years and QA apparently thinks it is fine and this occurs on the higher end as well

Sheesh, I would! And, say thanks for constipating our motorhome! Great care taken to make more issues in our coach!

I pulled the exact same piece out of my 2018 Outlaw 29H. The assembly guys take a hole saw and cut a whole in the tank for the toilet and drain and they just let the pieces fall into the tank with out cleaning them out before assembly.

Itís just laziness and bad quality control.

Exact same problem with my 2018 Thor Hurricane 29M... mine wouldn’t seal, wouldn’t seal, wouldn’t seal... then I stuck a camera up there. Found the same thing. Had to remove the valve. Crappy job, thank goodness it was a relatively new unit!

Yep! I had black-tank-constipation, too! One thing about Thor, they keep you on our toes (of knees)!

It is not a Thor thing, but an entire industry thing. Happens to all brands of trailers and fifth wheels. As stated, it does not matter what the cost. 15K to 2M. Once the hole is drilled,if the plug is in the drill fine, if not it is not fished out of the tank. One solution to the "it will not drain" is to have an external valve. Close it. Open the black tank valve and at the same time open the (near full tank needed) gray water valve. It generally pushes the black tank plug back into the tank and it will drain. If not, you will have to have a RV tank cleaning service come out and suck that sucker dry. They will also with high pressure clean the inside the tank. The tank level indicators will work like new for a trip or two again.
