Switching out passenger seat.

I have a 2011/12 Thor Freedom Elite 22C, which I have been debating upgrading to a class a Vegas/Axis. After reading posts for the last 4/5 months I’ve decided to keep the FE 22C as I haven’t had any problems with it other than my own doing and it’s paid for. It is easy to drive, hauls great and is a perfect size for me. But.... yes the buts.... the inside space is limited which is hard when you have 3 friends camping with you. I took out the table in my U dinette and it really helped. Now I want to replace the passenger seat base so it swivels. I think that will solve some of my issues. I called Thor and they don’t make a swivel base for my model. I have finally found a swivel base that I think will fit.

But before I order it I thought I better tap this knowledgeable site. Any suggestions, thoughts, experience of switching ????

Thank you in advance.

What did the reviews say?
CALL sportsmobile and ask about fit.
They are very very helpful.
When asking be sure and differentiate SWIVEL from ROTATE.
There probably isn't room to swivel that seat more than 30.or.so.degrees without opening the passenger door, rotating it(if it does rotate) and closing the door. Repeat.

Good idea. I’ll call tomorrow. From what I’ve read , there is some maneuvering to get the seat to turn but nothing that’s really hard.

Thank you.

Swivel passenger seat

Right you were! I called Nevada this morning as that is where the warehouse is, as per the Indian store. And, as you said, they were really helpful and it will fix my 22C. Unfortunately, I have to wait a minute as the RV is outside covered in snow. Can’t wait for spring!

Talking

We love our swivels (driver & pass) from Sportsmobile for our 24F. Yes, door must be either open or unlatched to swivel the seat. I re-routed the existing seat sensor wiring to allow the seats to swivel the 180 deg without unhooking any connectors. Took one or two test swivels to find the right anchor points to keep the wires secure and safe without disconnecting.

Check your toolbox and the seat base bolts. If you don't have the matching sockets/drives see your favorite HF.

Wife & I did both swivels in about 2 hours. I played with the seat cables another time about an hour. Your time may vary.

Thank you for that positive response. I can’t wait for the weather to change so I can get it installed.

Wow
That picture speaks volumes.
That is indeed a great add on and not just a thing to do because you can.

I'd hock a grandkid if I needed the money for those swivels.

Has anyone swapped in the Atwood swivel base for a Coachmen or Forest River? They slide back and towards the center at 45 degrees then swivel around so you don't have to do the door opening dance.
Supposedly they use the stock bolt patterns on the chassis and seat. I'm contemplating going this route for our passenger seat but want to find someone else that's done it first before I drop $300-400 at the parts counter.

Don't have any good advice for you but always wondered....is it just me or Thor.....my 2016 Hurricane has decent seats but where the seat belt is attached to the floor, there is no "skirt" and you walk in and the first thing you see is a bunch of stuff under the seat instead of a nice skirt there covering it all....both seats are this way.

Finally, had a good friend swap out my passenger seat base to the swivel base and now it swivels. I’m so happy. It takes a bit of maneuvering but not hard or bothersome.. one of theses days I will be camping again. So blessed.

i did the discountvanrv base on our passenger side. Don't have to open the door to swivel it.
I wish I'd done it years ago.

I didn't do the drivers side because the bunk ladder is right behind + I figured it would be harder to turn with the wheel in the way.
