I have a Blue Ox tow setup, and Blue Ox SPECIFCALLY states backing could damage the frame/steering components of the toad, and put abnormal stress on the tow bar causing it to weaken, bend or possibly break.
And yet people STILL back up
"just a little bit" because it's convenient. Those same folks likely hammer with an adjustable wrench too.
To me, it's NOT worth the risk. I'm 1,000 miles from home on a trip I'm supposed to be enjoying... I'm NOT risking completely unavoidable damage just to save 15 minutes of unhitching/re-hitching. Just me...
