Tow dolly

I have a 2012 Prius I would like to tow behind my Miramar 37.1 V10 motor home.

But when you get to the resort, what do you do with the tow dolly. If they weigh 400-500 lbs., are they easy to manage, or just a pain in the but?

Thanks

I rarely have to unhook the dolly when we get to the CG. I roll down the car and park behind the dolly when there is enough space. I only have to disconnect the dolly once when the only space available is a back-in space. I push the dolly all the way to the rear and let the front sit on the ground. I then back into the space.

You really don't have to worry about the total weight of the dolly, just the tongue weight.

Can you lift the tongue weight and then push it around?

Our Acme (cartowdolly.com) has a tongue weight of around 50 lbs which I can move around pretty easily.

When arriving at a campground we'll unload the car somewhere near the office prior to driving to the campsite. At the campsite I'll pull the RV up past the site (which I would do anyway to back in), unhitch the dolly and walk it back to the rear of the site (to about where I want the RV's back end to be). Then I'll back the RV in over the dolly so that it is mostly covered by the rear overhang of the RV.

If the site is long enough I just leave the dolly hitched up but then our RV is only 25ft long. You're likely to be longer LOL.

You can see here I have the dolly tucked under the RV:

I also have a hitch lock on the dolly so it doesn't sprout legs and walk.

Depends on how young you are. The newer cars sit so low with big wheels, it hard to get the straps on the wheels and tight. That is the reason I usually chose to take the truck. (It also might be the golf cart fits in the trucks bed.) The truck is up high with skinny tires (195/75-15), so hookup is easy and I don't have to crawl around on the ground. If I take the Jetta, it is a pain, as the fender clearance is close and I have to lay on the ground to attach the safety chains. I recently have had wheel straps made the go through the wheels spokes in place of the safety chains for the Corsa and Jetta.
All three toads have trailer hitches so moving the dolly is not a problem. If the spot is paved and level, I have a Harbor Freight three caster wheel dolly for the tongue.

KarKaddy could be a good choice with limited space.

I have an eze cartow dolly. I just unhook the car when I arrive at the campground if I don't have a pull thru site and drive the motor home just past the back in site. I unhook the dolly and wheel it back into the spot. I then just back the R V into the spot and park the car in front of the r v. I try to always get a pull through site if possible. When we stayed in Kentucky this past summer, all the had was a back in site. Since we were staying 12 nights, I just unhooked and put it into the site first and backed the r v up in front of the dolly. I also have a hand truck that attaches to the dolly and can maneuver the dolly into a site if it is a paved site. I don't have to lift and push it at the same time, just roll it into the space.

I do the same. The unloaded tongue weight on mine is maybe 10 or 15 lbs. I have to stoop while wheeling it, but it's not difficult at all.
