The beauty I see in this system is that we know the built-in generator can charge at a minimum of 7.2 kW rate for hours at a time. Rated generator output is actually much higher than that during hybrid operation.
Anyway, with larger battery bank, each hour of idling truck could power an energy efficient A/C overnight, or at least 5~6 hours during day. That’s what I find impressive. And this is the first OEM try.
As expected and previously discussed, Ford could turn this hybrid technology into a Volta-like electrical system on steroids and at a fraction of the cost. It’s about time.
