Best place to mount cell phone holder in Vegas/Axis

I tried mounting ours in the shallow tray area just behind the 10" Axxera screen but it seems to bounce/jiggle allot. It has a couple of ball mounts with arms (say 5-6"?) that allow us you have my cell phone on my side of the dash and my wife's on her side. However it can bounce so much that the phone slides in the holder and presses the power and sound button at same time and starts an emergency call (iPhone SE).

Where do you mount yours for:
- best stability?
- ease of use/access?
- access to USB power

To extend the question even further how about for a tablet/GPS? Something a bit larger.

I keep in my holder on my belt in the silent mode. I check the phone when parked or getting gas. I don't turn the radio on because I try to concentrate on my driving and chatting with my DW. My last RV accident was being sideswiped on a two lane road by a driver changing his play list on this I phone. $12,200 in towing and damages . The car hit the tailpipe and moved it down and back so the left dual tires ran over the pipe bending the drive shaft. The dash camera was on and caught the whole thing.

Mounting location for cell phone in Vegas/Axis

I use the phone to connect via CarPlay on the Axxera screen for maps/nav. I two of us are driving together then the passenger takes care of any phone calls. I use a headset for answering the phone if I am driving alone.

But cell phone aside - where are solid mounting spots? Say for a tablet or Nav device?

This is what my chauffeur uses to hold phone/charge and use for her navigation app.

I got a beer holder!

I have some pictures posted in this link. My phone sits off to the right hand side as back up GPS. It Bluetooths to the radio so my wife can listen to Spotify also and control the radio while I’m driving.

Weekend quick project

I have a 360 swivel magnetic mount on the center of my steering wheel.
It's offset a bit on the phone so the phone is always upright.

I also use a magnet mount... but the holder is adhesive mounted to the dash. I use the same setup in my F150.

The problem is my phone case has a metal plate stuck on the back (which sticks to the magnet) - this obviously impedes wireless charging, which I never use anyway.

It's rock solid even on very bumpy roads, and I can rotate my phone horizontal or vertical as needed. I NEVER take phone calls while driving... that's my navigator's job! My phone is always displaying Google Maps.

The extra long phone holder works well in the cup holder. The Carplay USB cable fits next to holder.

Hello sgrove, I have a 2016 vegas and I made a wooden holder that lays flat on the doghouse. I attached it to the doghouse with velcro. It holds both our isophones and allows us to leave them plugged in. I will take a pic of it tomorrow and add it. This might give you an idea for a low height tray.

I have tried all kinds of things, I even had thread with similar question 6 - 7 months ago. https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f2...-rv-29659.html

I came out of it with this...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Not only does it not move, it can be tricky to take it off. Most all phone holders are like Tiggers, they bounce. Buy this one and I am guarantee it will stay in position and not move or bounce no matter how hard the RV bumps around. So you can mount it anywhere.

Side note: This is one of the few things I have done in RV that I don't have a picture of.... but that is because if phone is mounted I can't take the picture

Haha - get the side note! Would like to see where/how you mounted it to the dash even if the phone is not on the mount. Thanks!

Sorry, i thought you had cup holders... my bad...If you can stand it. I would put a side bracket on the plastic cover, and attach it with a few machine screws and sealant. But that would mean permanent screw holes in your engine cover.

Not mounted, mine sits in the driver's side tray. I have an extra long lightning cable routed behind the dash to the USB connection for Carplay.

Phone mount

I put a piece of velcro on the back of the phone and another opposing piece on the top right corner of the front dash. works perfectly.

The mounts in my zr2 are all off of the vehicle so no pictures.
Before phone mounts were commonly available and when street atlas for win 95 had to be ran on a laptop, my mounts were made of 3/8 plumbing pipe and fittings.
Mounted to the seat base so they moved with the seat, you adjust to place, tighten, then swing on them like a monkey if you wish. Passenger's was a full on rotatable desk, driver was a magnet mount for my treo.
No wobble, no bounce.

A magnet and making one, might be ideal.

I use those as seen on tv ones with the two sticky pads in my axis.
GPS Genie.

I'm happy with them. You can't get much simpler and it holds a 10 inch tablet ok too.

If anyone 3d prints one for Axis Vegas specific placing, I'm in for three if them.
