Geeks Welcome

I have the OEM SEIKI TV. I've been looking at the USB port.

The manual cites an ability to play audio and 'photos', guessing the latter is a slide show.

Has anyone successfully projected streamed content using the USB port? If so, how? I tried connecting my phone and playing a video. No such luck.

Thanks.

As involved I this as I can get because I won't post anything unless it's experienced based and this is my only experience.

USB cable come in charge only and two way versions.
My phone won't send video out to a USB but my USB c connection on my phone will send it to hdmi.

Possible phone won't do it, possible one way USB cable.

Yeah usually you can't stream through TV's USB port; just files via a thumbdrive.

In many cases a phone can appear as a thumbdrive--at least to a PC.

USB-C is a different animal as it can also handle video (especially if its more than a USB-C port: A Thunderbolt Port).

It may be easier to stream via WiFi with a Chromecast or some other "stick".

My $17 roku stick did away with the damnable dongle I used to use to put pictures on the TV.

Roku or Firestick is indeed the easiest way.
I have, one time only, done the thumb drive pictures on a TV.
It wasn't very friendly.

In the rv we use a USB c from my phone to an hdmi port on the TV.
It's as easy as streaming wirelessly which seems to always glitch and fight us.

We download movies on the phone and plug into the 10ft cable using the phone as a remote control.
We gave away the DVD player.

And

Downloading pictures for a slide show is ssssoooo easy on roku. It also can use them as a screen saver slide show.

Retraction. You answered the questions I had and posted it somewhere between my last question and this response.
